I would have to say I must be different than most then. Sometime in my early 20's something in me snapped, and I realized I was like every other mindless drone out there striving for monetary worth and nothing else.

Since then every day I take a moment to pause and reflect. Not only on where I want to be, but WHO I want to be. I believe its made me a better person, and appreciate what I get to experience on a daily basis that much more.

Im not a huge classical music fan, but I would have stopped and listened even if it chanced me being slightly late for work. I love street performers.

Xtreme, the new media over here on AFN and shit was nuts. same story, quick blub about the marines takin hits in the afghanistan surge. then a fucking hour of micheal this and micheal that. quick blurb about the enconmy and health care reforms pending. fucking hour or micheal. i only have the chance to watch the news durring chow. when im not out and can actually eat on the FOB. and instead of finding out what is going on back home or around the world i have to hear about micheal. it went on for fucking weeks. absolutely disgusting. they treat us like we are dumb fucks who don't realize that they are trying to "keep morale" by short handing the stories of our fallen brothers and sisters in arms. not to mention IMO the dead did not do their jobs. Their job was not to be thrown into the fire for a hopeless cause. every casualty has been for nothing. nothing has changed, we have not helped a nation become independent, we have not liberated shit. we have simply removed one evil and enabled multiple police and military factions to train, recruit, refit, and wait til we leave the country so they can attack each other and fight a civil war and another power struggle. these people still shit in the street, they still choose satelite tv over running water, they still throw their trash into piles on the street, they still let their children go uneducated. nearly a decade of "war on terror" and "enduring freedom" and thousands of soldiers lives will have been for nothing. this conflict has done nothing but tear families apart, aid in the recession of our economy, and teach future enemies our weaknesses. but thank god for micheal jackson.
