Chain is tight to spec. Fluid is fresh. The bike rides smooth. But last night I leaned over and heard what sounded like two ball bearings when they hit each other. Kinda similar to a smooth clack noise. Anyone experience this? And what could it be in relation too? I guess I should order a gasket and open her up to look, but look for what? [confused] Thanks guys:)

Mine sounds like 2 squirrels hopped up on meth wearing iron helmets trying to kill eachother with railroad spikes lol... Must be my airbox delete. :)

possibly the nut from the crankshaft came loose...drain the oil from primary, get a new gasket and remove your primary cover and have a look...if it is the nut, clean it well and be sure no oil residue is left behind, do the same for the threads on the shaft, apply Loctite 262 and torque, my manual stated 190-210, but that was changed to 240 ft.lbs. I have an '03 9s.

I second this. Common thing, sounds like hell. Don't ride it much until you get it straightened out.
