speakers on a firebolt

Never saw this post but DAMN that's a great idea! I hate headphones. With a mp3 player that small, you could fab up a bar mount between the risers so you can change tracks while riding.

not only that the headphones are moronic IMO. I seen a guy riding one time with an ambulance behind him for well over a minute before someone else waved him down. come to find out he was listening to his ipod and couldnt hear the sirens

That's my exact complaint about headphones. This speaker setup is pretty cool. Now then...money....

I think its pretty cool. They do make remotes for them so you wouldent need to open it all the time. I probably wont do it, cause im really into my ride but its pretty cool. i would be nice to have the tunes on long road trips.[up]

My question is at speed can you hear it. I ride with headphones but my bike is so loud it drowns them out. Never have a problem hearing horns sirens or traffic in general. Just lower the volume.

When I ride with these Etymotic earbuds, it's almost complete silence, besides the music...and it's SO clear. Bad thing is you can't hear sirens, horns, etc. - have to keep you're head on a fast swivel.

I would have to be a tool and pick one badass song and play it on loop that way everytime I pull up I have my own little soundtrack/themesong [cool]

anyone know the current draw off that amp? I calculated my best and got about 8-9amps. how much does the stator put out? and what does the bike need, IE fuel pump, lights, coil blah blah

I use some of the larger head phone speakers setting in the ear cut-outs in the helmet. I can hear surrounding sounds just fine with music in the background. All songs do not work out with this setup, it needs to be a loader song, the slower soft music is not usually load enough to hear especially at highway speeds. But it is great for sitting in traffic when I really need the music the most.

Blutek
I have one of the helmets. Mine is actually a V-Can, but it's just a rebranded Bluetek. BLiNC bluetooth, only in one ear but audible up to about 75-80 mph. Sound quality is ok, can get crappy when you turn it up all the way. On its own, it's an average helmet, but the BT feature makes is pretty cool. You can find them on Ebay for less than $200. All in all I'm happy. I have a free ear to hear everything and an ear that has music in it without having an ear bud in it (so I can still hear road noises).

can anyone fill me in on the stator or rectifier size of the xb9s? im trying to make sure this wouldnt be too much of a strain on the electrical system

I've actually been trying to figure a way to mount a sub in the cross sections of the xb frame under the driver seat. If you get a half way decent sub set in that frame real good it should put out some pretty powerful sound. Sound doesn't all come from the speakers, a good majority of the sound and sound quality comes from the sound enclosure and how the cone is mounted. You gotta think, sound is vibrations, vibrations travel better through solid objects, the stronger the enclosure the bigger the sound. So naturally the strongest point on the bike would be the massive xb frame.

I think this is the perfect thread for the guys searching for speakers information on bikes. I am just planning new speaker on my honda bike. Will share pics soon

If I had speakers on my bolt, I'd blast Billy Joel - Uptown Girl all the time.

That's shit's obnoxious enough, might as well play a goofy song while you're at it.
