Speedo flucutates

06 Ulyie, speedo just developed this wonky bounce. Jumps all over the place and sometimes settles down to steady indication. Checked negative ground on battery and its good, have cleaned and applied electric grease to all other grounds. I'm at a loss here.

Uly? It might be the speed sensor?

I have no experience with Ulys but my 1st best guess is corrosion in the speedo... take it apart and have a look how it looks inside. Then check the plug as well the plus of the ECM. Water in the plugs or on any electronic part can cause all different kind of malfunctions....

This happened to my 06 Uly the other day on way to work. Happened once, i have not looked into it yet.

trevor: be it a uly or big-twin or japanese bike with electronic speedo, 99% of the time it is the speedo sensor on the way out. you know where it's located back on engine case, correct? i'd plan on buying a new one.

not necessarily. sometimes just enough to clean the sensor
