WWWAAAAHHHOOOOO!!!! Yesterday crusing southbound on 75 after Picking up my Uly from Harley Allen.
The culprit was a cracked ECM at the connector, I relocated it but it was already cracked.

When first stopping at a light, and parking the bike at work, I did not hear the fan? So I called the shop and they said the fan has been reprogrammed and does different things at different temps and uses the speed sensor now. Seems weird since it was simple before, bike gets hot fan turns on, bike cools then fan turns off. Now it is like doing a lot of stuff: On, off, stay off, on, off, on, stay on. Is speed needed for fan control? I guess it puts less strain on the charging system, at low speed or stopped the fan turns off and there is no power drain. Sure this is probably not the reason, but why would it be changed to operate this way?

The bike is running awesome though, the best since I have owned it.

I have the latest download on my 08 Uly , the fan drives me nuts with on and off. Unless it's really hot the fan cuts out below 10 mph.

Glad you got it fixed, I've been keeping up with this issue of yours. I have 09 uly and it's fan does what it wants, no real pattern I've noticed, but works ...so I don't care. I have a Question, what or where do they put ecm to prevent the cracking issue? Mine is stock and want to keep this from happening. Thanks, glad yours is fixed!

I believe there is also a thread here on this website? the bad weather link has a lot more stuff on it than the one here at buellxb. I did the angle bracket but rounded the corners and all the edges off so nothing snags on them, hopefully. Also I am a fan of liquid electrical tape, especially to seal the end of the real tape so it does not move or unravel unless you want it to.

Thanks again for your assistance and the bike is running great, better than it has ever ran since I have owned it. Would have answered sooner but I was busy riding my Uly.
