Debaged my airbox (Translucent Orange /Amber) scratched it pretty bad just wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions or had another airbox cover that was translucent orange / amber.
I'm interested as well, in the scratch part.
As the previous owner made alot of scratches while removing the sticker on the airbox cover (it's a white '04 xb9r)
whats nice about stock buell platics is that it a molded platic throughout. i.e its not painted for scratches all you need to do is deepending on how deep the scratch is .either start with 600 or 800 wet sand it to 2000 then get a good compound for buffing at carquest and buff it out just dont go too crazy cuss you will melt the platic.
Fock347 I'll try that but I'm just a little technically challenged. When you say 600-800 wet sand it to 2000. What are you talking about. Which buffing compound would be best?
He's talking about sandpaper grits. I wouldn't go as low as 600. I did once and it was a mistake. 1000 is the lowest I'd go. Do 1000, then 1500, and finish with 2000. Then do the novus system.
start with 1000, finnish with 2000 but ALWAYS keep the sandpaper/bodypart wet with windex or water...doesnt take much. (keep spraying ur cleaner the whole time when sanding)
