Starter Issues

I ran my '05 12r through a BIG puddle the other day and the starter keeps clicking, I wasnt sure what it was at first, but it isnt engaging, just sounds like the solinoid clicking on and off or chattering. Is this an issue due to the water, or perhaps something else? Any help would be appreciated. I recently changed out the handgrips, but i dont belive i pinched any wires cause the bike was fine for many rides before the puddle.

check your minus(?)-connection on your bike. there's one under the engine.
