I go to start my bike I hear and feel a clicking sound from my starter. From a another post I find this:
CHATTER is Low Voltage [Battery] (wouldn't trying to jump the bike be bypassing the battery?)and OR a weak silnoid spring (is this rebulidable? or replace whole starter?) or Positive wire going to the starter. Putting the Battery Charger on it won't help in this case. Check the Manuals at TOP of the page. This way theres break downs of certain areas. The basics are the same on some areas
Any suggestions?

check the date on your battery for starters. read the battery for voltage. see what it says.

also check the battery cables, make sure they are tight. sometimes they will loosen up and case similar problems. it doesnt hurt to take them apart, shine up the metal on the battery terminal and on the cable connecter; i have seen bad connections cause that stuff before when the battery is just fine. start with the inexpensive stuff first, go from there.

dude dont put in a new starter yet, your battery is prob just low, put it on a charger and it should be ok

31488-81B H-d is the the part number for the starter?
And what is 31603-91? Starter Solenoid repair kit?
I found that my pinion gear pushes out and reacts but doesn't spin. Any light would be appreciated.

After a removal of the Battery you can have it load tested at auto parts store.Even if a Battery is fully charged it can still break down under load. The grounds on the bike above the engine may need to see if they are tight. The Engine is suspended from there so you can't take the bolts out,or you will be doing a lot of work to get them back in, but can[loosen] the large grounding lug bolts about a 1/4 of an inch, clean and retighten those. They are under the bottom plate under the air box. The 4-27 torx bolts have to be removed for the bottom area to make room for working. The stsrter hopefully isn't the problem. Usually a battery OR ground(possible) relay will give those symptoms. The Starter depends on the miles and the amount of starts on it,you can get a reman kit from the dealer hope they still stock that. Most put a new starter on but make sure to check all needed grounds, and so on before buying one. These are just a few ideas to help you in the right direction.Welcome to the forum. *Jimi
