Went to start my 1999 X1 this morning in my garage an turn the key on an kill switch to the on position an the neutral light doesn't come on? I've checked to make sure i am in neutral. The gauges light up but there is nothing when I press the ignition button. checked the fuses under the seat, charged the battery an am stumped... please help

If it isn't the clutch switch or the sidestand switch you might have a problem in your right side controls. I had a problem with my kill switch on my S3 had to take it apart and clean the contacts I use the key to shut her down now I don't trust the switch anymore.

i tried with the kick stand up an clutch in nothing i'm stumped. i also too my throttle side controls off an checked them out everything looked fine. i also checked all the fuses and the two relays. i had my battery tested an they said it was fine. I also tried jumping it an noting so im thinking its gotta be an electrical issue

May be a bad starter switch - disassemble if you can, contacts may be worn or just need some electrical cleaner sprayed in it.

I'll go thru my service manual tonight I remember seeing something about diodes somewhere in the main wireing harness for my 98 carbed S3 not sure what they are for or if your bike has them too but I remember something in the trouble shooting guide about them. Anyone no what they do ?

Heard of issues with key switch, If you google it you might find diections on how to jump it.
Just a thought.

I looked at my ignition an the wiring looked burnt on the parking light wires so I replaced the wires and she started. I guess the bike wasn't showing to start thanks for the help guys. I'm back on the road!:)
