Okay, I have a '09 1125CR and find it hard to get to the final word fix and be done with it. If I decide to leave on 600-700 mile trip I don't want to set there and worry about the stator. Here's where I'm at: recall on wiring has been done. Can I buy and install the $400 and some dollar stator kit from EBR and forget about it? Is there more to the story? I don't get on here alot, but the post(s) seem to be all over the place and I'm having a hard time trying to follow.

I wish I had an answer for you Timan, I have an 09 1125r and already had the voltage Regulator upgraded, but am very worried to take it on a long trip and the stator fail. From what ive read around here it seems to be a pretty random thing, and it looks like if you get above 6000 miles and you dont have a stator problem you are in the clear for the most part. Im just praying it doesnt quit on me :S

Considering ebr took the low voltage kit off...i hope the new rotor fix's it. I haven't had a problem yet and will wait till I do.

firefighter, appreciate the response. Will I have to do additional swaps or is it plug and play? Are the connectors and hardware the same? Lastly, how long can I expect the '08 parts to last and what kind of money are we talking? I know there's a ton of variables in my questions, but value you guys input.

The 1190rs uses the stator that you have and the rotor upgrade. I dont think ebr would offer it if it didnt fix the problem. If you find an 08 you need both the stator and the rotor. Othwise it is plug and play.
I would say Harley just didnt want the extra expense of of use a Edi to cut the hole.

I guess this is where I get overwhelmed. So I can buy the $400+ rotor upgrade from EBR and I'm good to go? I can install and ride without worry?

Im riding with stock and not worrying. Breathe deep you'll feel better.
But yes I think the bottom line is that the upgrade on the rotor will keep the stator cool enough. Keep in mind 250 of the cost is core charge.

Wait, EBR offers only a rotor upgrade now? I bought the whole kit (rotor, stator, ignition cover) for $900. Gonna install it "real soon now," haha.

I am a machinist. After inpecting and carefully laying out the oil hole specs of the kit rotor, I intend to make a jig and then I'll be able to machine that hole in stock 09 rotors without much hassle... for a far more reasonable price!

yeah they offer just the rotor upgrade. I just looked on the website and didnt see the whole stator kit. I read on here somewhere that you can have your stator sent off and rewired to a thicker wire and that would fix the problem. is this true? i am going to be buying an 1125cr within a week or so and i want to be able to go on trips without worrying about it dying.

I believe ebr probably put enough research into the rotor mod to remove the "08 kit".
Im just going to try it.

thats what im hoping. logically it should fix the problem but we will try. thats going to be one of the first things i do when i get mine. the bike has just under 7k miles and has the harness and the stator replaced under warranty so i dont know how long it will last.
