The other night I replaced all the fuses and resecured the relays and the bike fired up but idled a little rough.

Wanted to take it to the gym today to see if I had I fact fixed it. Turned the key and gauges swept from right to left and the CEL came on for 4 secs and went out like it should. Primed like it should. Started like it should.

Rounded the corner on to the main road and it started surging again and lost power. The electrical stayed on but no CEL. Pulled off to the side of the road and turned the bike off. When I turned the key to the start position. Electrical came on. Gauges swept from right to left. No CEL at all. The pump is silent except for a small click like it tried to prime.

So... I spent the last 25 mins pushing the bike to my house. That was fun. Lol

And thoughts are appreciated.

No need to go to the gym now! :D

How many miles on the bike, what year and is it the stock pump? Sounds like its running out of fuel.

2004 XB12R an has 31k on it.

Well I definitely have scratched off it being an electrical issue but I still haven't checked the wiring on the pump.

You isn't lyin... My legs are killin.

See if you can get the pump to prime, but I think your in for replacing the pump.

I already have one on order. I just thought it was a little strange all of a sudden it started priming and firing up.

Generally this type of submerged pump is in a fuel tank far from any heat source (car or truck), on a buell it is very close to the heat source with lots of vibration.

Its not strange at all. The pump is com it works it gets hot it stops working. They'd just how my pump died.... Riding down the interstate at 80 mph with low fuel and it died. Limped it to a gas station filled up and made it home on back streets running great. Took it one more time down the street to meet a friend and when I got on it it stayed to lose power.

Oh just a heads up my o2 sensor died a couple rides after replacing the fuel pump. You might as well replace that whole you're at it since you be 4 bolts away and $30 for the sensor.

I'll be replacing the fuel pump and o2 on my Uly this weekend, the pump is getting a little loud.
