Well rode about 300+ miles today, decided to head out for dinner about 40 miles from home bike ran awesome all day came out after eating started my bike up and for some reason I can't keep it running starts up runs for a few seconds and stalls out.

Check everything I can by pulling the seat and air box and all looks fine re-ran a jumper ground tonthe battery from the frame just incase and nothing is working.

Any help would be great, BuellChick already headed back to the house to grab my truck but I am hoping I can fix the issue myself so she doesn't have to drive out here to pick my bike up.

Here is a video of it doing what it is not suppose to do. Also note I just did a TPS reset a few days ago so all is set with that.

3/4 tank of gas just filled up before heading out. I also checked the fuel pump wires and all looks fine.

xtreme,

I hate to state the obvious, but does the bike have enough fuel? It sounds like it's out of gas.

I'm assuming the fuel pump runs and it primes?

Try starting it up and revving it right away, see if it bogs.

EDIT, just saw it has 3/4 tank of fuel.

Battery connection?

Kickstand safety?

It does sound like it is starving for fuel when it dies out, maybe bad gas/gas line?

Jimmy

Edit: well for shits and giggles I walked out to start it up fired right up idled for about 30sec. I jumped out rode around the parking lot about 400yrds in all bike seemed fine then Bamm stalled out. Fired back up rode it back to my parking spot and it stalled again[down]

Well BuellChick is on her way to get me so I will have to look into everything once I get home, I only have an Allen wrench and my toqx bit.

Thought it may have been my breather reroute clogged up but I took the air filter off and there really isn't any large amounts of oil or build up.

I know it isn't fuel since BuellChick and I used the same pump and she filled up then I grabbed the pump and topped mine off, hers runs fine. So gas is plenty and good.

The bank sensor is under the fairing and mounted as it always is so no tools by it or other randomnesses.

maybe a chaffed wire somewhere causing a short or low voltage to something vital?

I will have to check the wiring later I just don't have the need items to be checking the wiring and or to strip off tape in the parking lot. [sad]

Hate to say this, but I had the same problem with my.....harley, this weekend. While riding it was great, but when I would come to a stop it would die, idle would drop out. It did it several time in a parking lot. I topped it off with fuel, the highest oct. I could find (93) and it rode great the next 150 miles.
Maybe some slightly bad fuel.

when the o2 censer went out in my 03firebolt it acted like that. doesn't really help you out on the road but something to look at when you get home.

I have a brand new wide band u2 sensor, and I just wouldn't understand the bad gas since BuellChick filled up at the same time and her bike ran great to here and back home.

I will top it off when I get home but we fill up with 93 octane as it is. 91 isn't any where around in MI, and I never run 89 or 87.

Thinking maybe something may be in the tank clogging the pump and when I fire it up it then sticks to the screen and dies out then falls away from the screen. But even then it would take something fairly big to clog the entire pump [confused]

In route home frickin Lame [sad]

Just guessing here, but it kinda sounds like it's losing fuel pressure. Maybe primes ok initially, but runs out pretty quick. Either the pump is dying or is there a pressure regulator in line? I'm not super familiar with XB's just yet, so I don't know what all is on them.

Also check the fuel filter in the line, swap it out if it's easy to get at. There's another one inside the tank (looking at the exploded prints now) so that's another option also, but would be more difficult to get at.

The XB pump has a built in filter so it is far from easy to fix if that is the issue.

I know it seems random and a little out there but check the crank sensor Harley makes some of the worst ones and they never seem bad enough to trigger the engine light. this seems very similar to a sportster we had come in the last shop I worked at. Its worth a shot, if you need the procedure for testing it get a hold of me via email and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
