striped plastic gas cap

I bought a gas tank, seat,rear plastic and three other things for $60.00. But the plastic part of the gas cap has stripped. I think i can fix it with a stainless steel insert. Has any one else had this probelm? If this idea works ,I might be able to fix yours for you.

HOw did you do it? I have a 2001 buell S3 and I have to fight to get my gas cap out. I think it is the same problem as the one you had. PLease let me know how I can do it, or if I can send it to you.

I have the same problem as TbowS3 I feel retarded sitting at the gas station prying on my gas cap on my 98 S3.[mad]

Hi everyone....I sent Eric (toolmaker98) the plastic part from my sons Buell. The repair he did to the plastic part is great! It works better than new! I would recommend his repair to all plastic gas cap parts that are stripped. Also...he received my part and sent me a repaired one in just a few days!!
