tail lift - what does it do/why?

I also think its pretty ugly. But thats just my opinion. If thats what does it for you, dont let no one tell you different.

I imagine it has to effect handling slightly, but it must be marginal.

Purely a cosmetic mod.

Looks ridiculous. As far as what it does, it broadcasts to the world that you "mod" your bike exclusively for the sake of cosmetics. It ruins a perfectly awesome bike.

i disagree, just because you perform a cosmetic mod does not mean you are exclusive to cosmetic mods.

all basketballs are round so all round objects are basketballs right

ive done the ecm, intake changes, and an exhaust. wider bars because i like the extra leverage and grew up on dirtbikes. i have a wideband sitting around i need to do something with. how much have you done to your engine? when i rebuilt mine i considered going to high CR pistons but was concerned about knock, i also thought about cams but like the smooth power delivery i have now. i also noted an improvement in comfort and i like the riding position better with the tail lift. guess i mod for aesthetics only. :/ and what is wrong with making the appearance of your vehicle better? maybe not in everyones eyes but who cares, i think it looks nicer. Im sure you have never done anything to change the look of something you own.

Best Regards,
Mod Poser

LOVE MY TAIL LIFT ON MY 12S! Just looks freakin whicked on an already beautiful bike IMO! What more needs to be said... no way it increases performance and I didn't notice any handling difference either. (Although it would make sense that putting more weight on the front would make the riding more aggressive... like lowering your handlebars kinda

tail lift or no tail lift. kinda looks kool either way to me. anyways kona i need to know your thoughts on that rear bike stand you have there my friend. i am in need of something like that, looks like you can even change a tire using it.

they were cheap and they work good. i bought them from here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Moto...rcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a681fff85 they come with a spool lift and i have spool sliders but i bought non spool hardware so i could remove the rear wheel from here http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/4/75/29803/ITEM/PSR-Non-Spool-Hardware.aspx

and you def have some unique plastics on your bike. [up]

Ile apoligise first Sorry but i think tail up looks ugly and looks like a add on. It just dont look write at all.im sure you guys can come up(no pun intended)with something much better [cool] KIWI

I personally dont think it makes that big of a difference visually. Due to the fact that I'm vertically challenged, raising anything is not an option.

If they made a tail lowering kit somehow, I'd be all over it.[up]

Another ugly as fuck pic. LOL

I personally like the look- gives it a little more of the Euro-Trash Street-fighter look. As far as handling, it wedges you into the seat and a/b cover. This gives me (probably my imagination) a more secure and aggressive riding style.
My wife has disliked riding with me on the back of the XB since we got it. She says seats too small and angled too much forward. I installed the tail lift and didn't tell her. This of course made it worse for her when riding with me and she hated it, didn't want to ride on it with me any more. So, off came the passenger pegs and the XB turned into my solo bike!
shh... She still doesn't know. LOL

Thanks Phil- guess I'll take cute over ugly as fuck...
You better go get youself a tail lift tho. Your girl thinks MY bike is cute.[smirk]

To anyone with a tail lift, kudos. It helps it stand out just a little bit more. I see how it might affect handling in some smae way such as raising the center of gravity marginally, but it does look aggressive as fuck. I like the look of it but doubt I'd ever actually do that mad. Still kudos must be given because you are going above and beyond what is usually seen. And to Bossanova next time you decide to hit up Deal's Gap let me know about a month in advance and then cruise down I-65 or 31W to get into TN. We'll ride.

So if you cut the blocks in half to get a partial Lift not the full lift does that make you a half full douche or half empty douche? :)

Douche Kayak?

Ive never seen a tail lift in person.. in some photos I cant tell its been done and in others it looks good. Ive noticed camera angle is everything to a Buell. Take the photo from the wrong angle while a buell is on its sidestand and its the ugliest thing on earth. The empty space between the top of the front wheel and the bottom of the nose looks huge, but straighten the wheel, take it off the sidestand and get on it, the dead on profile looks fantastic! Camera angle is everything on these things. You gotta know how to photograph a Buell.. in person you don't notice it much but in photos they can look funny sometimes. Especially 1125s.. they don't photograph well at any angle, but in person they can look real good. I had been looking at photos of 1125crs for a long time until I actually saw on in person, my reaction was "fkk, photos don't do that thing justice!"
