Tail lifts: WHY?

I do know it's primarily done for cosmetic reasons.  My question is how the heck do people think this looks good (with all due respect )?

you dont have to think it looks good. i like it so i put it on my bike. and i originally did it for looks but i also found that it made my seat more comfortable, maybe its because i dont have an ass idk but the contact point is slightly different. with the 1 1/8 dirtbike bars the riding position is perfect. dont knock it till you have at least sat one one. and you really dont think it looks good? i cant understand how the heck someone would think it doesnt look good. [confused]

yeah I know everyone has different opinions, I really honestly think it looks worse though, it just doesn't look proportionate, and doesn't flow with the curves and lines of the bike to me.

I can't comment on if it's more comfortable though.

Hey buddy, this is a motorcycle forum! Let's keep your elephantitis of the nutzzzz to yourself! But since you brought it up, I think I found your high school yearbook photo!

oh and tail lifts look good in my opinion! not that it matters, but there ya have it!!

DUDE!! I am reading your offensive hostilities loud and clear:D. For the love of God and all that is holy break out that fancy pocket knife and cut me some slack. btw: in regards to the photo my lawyers will be in touch

I kind of like the lifts too but that not anyone cares what I think...

but I ain't sticking my tail in the air[mad]

Well since I made this thread it occurred to me that it's kind of pointless, since everyone has different taste....but my main concern is this, do you all with tail lifts care about the things like the seat not lining up in the front, or the tail and turn signal lights not being perpendicular to the ground? Or is there a fix for these issues with the lift. I think I could understand why someone would like it if these things were addressed.

^^i'm assuming some of that sort of settles when you're sitting on the bike.

you seem awfully interested in something you don't like?? are you trying to talk your way into buying them? king of a reverse psychology type thing? :D

lol no not at all wanting to do this. I just had seen a couple threads about this in a row, and it honestly was kind of just ticking me off. I'm sort of a perfectionist and it would tick me off if I did a mod like this and had a gap in my seat and my tail light was facing the sky lol.

She ride with you? She gonna like sitting that high up?

It completely sucks riding 2 up with spacers. It will smash your nuts and push you into the air box. Good thing Buells are only meant for 1 and twisties. :p

I feel the lines of the Lightning tail are complimented with the subtle tail lift. Without it the tail seems flat and lacks a design flow.

My old bike with my fiances bike before she got a tail lift as well.

Like all mods that affect appearance, it is all very much a matter of opinion. All I can say is - mod away! It's your bike - do whatever you want to with it. If your opinion differs from that of the Erik Buell and the original designers and you like how the raised tail looks - raise it...if you don't - leave it like it is.

Yeah that observation was made in the 2nd post of this thread.

You and I seem to be the only two with large balls [up]

Yes I saw that the reason why i said that is because I was referring to riding two up. That is the only time I have experienced that with my tail lift. Riding single doesn't affect me in one bit.

The rear lift raises the height of the seat in the riding position - correct? Then it also affects handling - correct?
