I have a friend that works for a major oil company and he's thinking about starting a business where he sends you a free kit, you mail back a sample of your oil, and then they use a spectrometer to analyze over 30 aspects of any oil for cars, boats, motorcycles and more.

He would probably charge about $21.00 per test and you would be able to log into a website to check your history. He can tell you almost exactly what bearing, seal or whatever might be wearing out. His company currently does these tests for companies with large fleets of vans, trucks, heavy equipment, etc.

He can check transmission fluid, differential fluid and motor oil.

That sounds kind of cool. Kind of curious as to how he would be able to tell you what is wearing out by how your oil looks.

I checked out some of the reports. The show parts per million of things like copper, soot, antifreeze, certain acids that break down oil, other metals, other materials, etc. If you get them done somewhat regularly you can see trends over time. I don't understand all of the technical details, but it seems pretty sweet.

He showed me how he used it to buy a car with 100k+ miles. The oil tests showed that the engine was in great condition. He's been driving it problem free for around three years now.

Hey I'm in if he does this!!!!! We use it for our heavy equipment every time we service them it can prevent major failures before they happen by finding small problems by this method

The test costs $21 and a motor is how much?Ya I would be interested,to the fact that if it dosen't go over well on the website,I would still like the info so I could hook up with him and have it done for my xb9r.Thanks.:)
