I know this is old news, but seriously, what were they thinking? It took a few months for a harley guy to check the buell website, but when they did, they pulled the plug pretty fast. I mean.... seriously.....seriously

I never liked the 1125s.

The Rotax motor got rid of the whole reason I got a Buell - badass sportbike chassis, farm-tractor tech Harley motor. :D The contrast is what gave the damn thing character! If you're going to use a watercooled 4-valve motor, you're competing directly against Ducati, Aprilia, and KTM. The XBs, to me, were the anti-Ducati.

And sure, the XBs looked odd, but the 1125s went back to the tube-frame breadbox-hangin-off-the-side days. [down] And again, if you're going to compete direcly with Ducati, you DAMN better make something that looks ****-hot!

And before anyone gets upset, this is just my worthless, rambling opinion of no importance whatsoever. [cool]

the black and white is a menacing theme used on bikes like this and the shiver and super duke. it is for aggression in getting slow movers out of the left when they think it may be a police. but i agree, it doesn't quite work on the 1125CR and looks generic because of lack of form or contour striping or anything to suggest cohesion or package.

buell has always been pit against aprilia, ducati, ktm, triumph etc. times are just tough, and it isn't just the momo world hurting, this just obviously hit directly. the price was just too much, as now there is a frenzy to get the bikes while you still can at crazy low prices.

or maybe it's just me not being home to get my hands on one myself. i hate my life. [mad]

i kid! ^o_x^

@dave, I know you meant this in jest, though the 2010 CR is quite strange. I definitely like the looks of the 09 better. I am not a big fan of the CR stickers on the radiator pods.

The low cost Harleys killed Buell, the nightster and the 883 Iron. Harley looked at Buell like a stepping stone to the high end bikes with the younger crowed. Why put them on a sportbike when you can just put them on a cheep Harley.

I would F*** the tailpipe of anyone of those 1125's. I didn't like them at first but after I saw a few aftermarket German parts for them I was all about it. I would not get rid of my XB for one and can't afford an extra bike currently.

My opinion based only on esthetics, is that those radiator pods are hideous. This bike might not have been the reason for the down fall of Buell but it sure didn't help

too bad it wasnt air-cooled. those big mickey mouse scoops make it look terrible. yes i know its for the radiator but come on.

Keith is spot on. I am a Ducati rider from many years ago who just bought my first Buell for one main reason. Slight insanity and perversion of what we normally ride, the inappropriate engine that makes enough power to be fun but shakes and oozes mechanical charm like it's ugly cousin, the H-D cruiser!!! If it had a refined superbike engine,, I would never stray from my beloved Ducati or Triumph! Add to that the strange looks of the 1125 and there is no appeal to me. I'm picking up a 2010 Firebolt in stunning yellow next Wednesday. I will park it next to my yellow 748 with pride.

To be honest, the 1125's never grew on me. Hard to say it when I run this forum. Never understood the design. I'm sure they perform though.

I hate those damn big ass scoops, it just ruins the entire bike.

Oh and Dave the reason for the Black tail is to match the mirrors, at least that is what I heard[smirk]

Everything else is flat black and the tail is glossy. at least put a white seat cowl on it. It's so ugly. Soooo ugly.

My take on why H-D hates buell. Professinal jealosy. Same reason why you will never ever see a healthy tofu burger at McDonald's. To promote something as a healthy alternative to the greaseburger is like saying there is something wrong with the main product you are selling. H-D sells to the ignorant over and over.

We buy Buell, flaws and all, being totally objective and enjoying the bike for what it truly is. We get the best of both worlds, old school charm and forward thinking in one package, but my point is we are totally aware of what we are buying. H-D prefers to treat the ape-hanger crowd like mushrooms; feed them **** and keep them in the dark.

They will never acknowledge something better, for less money. Never.

Maybe Harley-Davidson is cool afterall....consider this: The Japanese have always understood the concept of the attention you get in the marketplace by undercuting the competition and giving a better product, even if it means losing money. In that way your product is known and well received so that future business is likely. WEll......all the scrambling to buy these precious Buells now, at a bargain price.....what if, just what if, Harley REALLY knows what they're doing!
