There's an 08 special edition local, only a couple thousand miles, and $9,000. Compared to my Lightning, it feels huge. I do want something I can hit the highway with, and have seen pics of them fitted with hard bags and top boxes. Here's the thing though, I already have 2 Buells and two UJMs. (Universal japanese motorcycle) I'm running out of room in my garage!

Thoughts?

send me one of your bikes (ill pay shipping) and go for it! and that is definantly the bike for the highway.. way too much bike IMO but im just an immature ******* that likes to see how fast I can go on anything I ride

the only place where 1400cc motors are practicle is the drag strip IMHO. I never have understood the appeal of 'busas and and other "hyper-bikes" aside from folks feeling the need to own the biggest and baddest

Part of my problem is I want a lot of different bikes, but don't want to have to pay for the plates and insurance on all of them. I also want to get out and explore, and the Buell isn't the bike for that. I was jonesing for a Harley, but I don't think an HD is the bike for me.

I did look get a quote for insurance, it would be close to $600/year just for the ZX, then another $300 something for the Buell.

Most plastic bodied bikes are ugly anywhay, imho.

i rode a buddys a couple of weeks ago.great bike handles good great for long rides looks great and theres always the 200 mph run if your not skeered.

I think they are a nice dragbike if that's what you're into. I like the Kawasaki naked liter bike much better.

Get it, in today's market you might get them down a bit. I'd go $8000 to $8500. It's a great bike, and if you're like me, sometimes you want to rip it up to 150 to 165+ for a brief second or so. They handle really well for the size, those who say they don't have never ridden a super bike. I sold my 05 ZX12R recently and like my ZX10R better since it's a bit lighter, but for sheer pulse pounding excitement you can't beat a big ass ZX14R.

What about all the BMW and Honda touring bikes? Those are 1400cc and up there are also 1800 and up sixes out there. The guy who started "Pashnit Tours" rides a Busa. I have no issue with a big sport bike with lots of power. Riding 3 to 4 hundred miles a day on a Busa with bags and a throttle lock would be ideal for me.

There's a lot more to them then just the crazy ego-trip kind of power.
How about the fact that they will effortlessly cruise 75-80mph interstate speeds. I don't mean "Buell" kind of effortless, I mean COMPLETELY vibe free, "not even trying" kind of effortless; a kind of relaxed gate that is hard to understand until you own one and put some miles on it [cool] I've run interstate speeds on both my Buell and my Busa, there is NO comparing the 2.

How about a bike that provides decent wind protection (GREAT on cool mornings), handles well, carries a passenger in relative comfort and is roomier and more comfortable than a supersport.[up]

How about the fact that you can suck up road miles with ease without having to resort to a 700lb "old man" Sport-tour-er.:p

How about the simple fact that they can do just about anything, from touring, to cruising, to back road bombing, to corner carving and they do it all amazingly well.

Buells are GREAT bikes, and I wish I had another one (a Ulysses is HIGH on my list) but don't underestimate the value of a hypersport (Busa/ZX14) when their used for something other than showing off. My Busa has proven itself to be QUITE the capable road bike.[cool]

To the OP: if you're looking for a bike to put some miles on I say go for it. I think You'll find the ZX14 is a FAR more capable "touring rig" than anything you currently have. [up]
If you're wanting one for a "fun" ride I say pass on it. Ripping through a few gears with the throttle cracked wide open will see you on the high side of 160 before you can blink an eye. How many times do you think you can get away with those velocities before fate steps in and ruins the party. [sad] Maybe I'm getting old (32's not old, is it??? :D) but I firmly believe these bikes are actually too fast to really have fun on. there's just no way to do it without ending up at Ludicrous speed and a quick 0-100 blast is just that; quick. When you can hit 100mph in 5sec from a dead stop that's a SHORT adrenaline rush (but WHAT A RUSH IT IS :D ).

yeah- but those are touring bikes and are designed as such. My dad's Vic V92C is roughly 1500cc's. I was merely refering to 1400's in sport bikes designed purely for speed. If youre riding two-up on a K1300 with loaded hard bags and the whole nine, then yeah, I'm sure that monster engine is nice to have. And dont get me wrong - I'd LOVE the chance to get on a zx14 and have it snap my head back on accleration when I'm already doing 140!!! (would never ride a 'busa - ugliest bike ever made)

Rode my step brothers zx14 before he wrecked it numerous times. Fastest I have ever been on a bike was on that one. 185 and it felt like it had more, but I was out of road. It was a very comfortable bike for its size. Don't expect to be cutting corners like any buell. I couldn't own one, because I would be dead or in jail:D

I can think of a lot of bikes way worse looking than a Busa. But hey, you're entitled to your opinion, the 07 I had in blue looked awesome. Can't say I liked any other color though.

A ZX or a Busa can handle touring as well as carve corners and out race anything to boot.

If it has two wheels and a motor i love it. any make size style or color i want it. So i understand how you feel. But till i win the lottery the Buell fills the bill . Make a low ball offer on the ZX if they say ok. it was ment to be.

I think they are way to big and with an engine you would never be able to use to it's full potential on the road. But don't listen to what other people think of how it looks. If you like it, buy it. [up] Here in Norway it would cost around 90.000,- norwegian kroner a year for insurance anyways. Thats about 18.000 USD. R is an expensive letter here. :)
