I plan on switching to RP on the next change for both, and I was just curious.. do you guys change both together every time, or leave the trans for every Other change, as suggested in the manual for normal fluids

Well part of the reason for switching to RP is for having a smoother gearbox and shifting. Oil is cheap, why not switch both?

I do since it's easier to remember that way and I'd much rather change it too often as not often enough. [smirk]

that's what i was planning on. afterall it's nothing but 10 more minutes.

does the syn give you a smoother shift? I've been using formula+ to stay on the safe side, but it would make life simpler to use synthetic in both holes. any opinions on that?

Yes it give you a smoother shift. And it makes finding neutral easy! Do it now! Get to the choppa! Eeiiiieee!!!!

i switched out from dino oil to RP yesterday. I noticed that finding neutral is way easier and the bike is alittle cooler. The cooler part might be in my mind but it certainly is easier to find neutral.

Mosiac00...I dont think it's in your mind. My fan comes on less with Amsoil than it did with Syn-3.

I'm new to Buells, just purchased an 03 xb9r, my question is about the oil change. I know that the engine oil goes in the swingarm, but I keep hearing about the primary or transmission oil, I know there is a drain plug under the tranny cover but my question is how the F#@k do I fill it with oil after I drain it, if somebody could explain this to me using pics I would be thankfull since I always dealt with Jap bikes and the oil change is simple, thanks and sorry for being ignorant when it comes to these engines

thanks alot steven, that was driving me nuts, looked all over the place and it was right there in front of me, thanks again
