I purchased my bike this spring with a few items done to it. It has a K&N filter, Buell Race ECM tuned for my mods, and lastly my exhaust which is a Jardine GP. Other than reading it needs repacking it seems like a good muffler. The sound is so-so, where I would like something more throaty.
Here is the exhaust. CLICK
I have read that the jardines do not make the power of other mufflers. What suggestions do everyone have for a performance orientated muffler. Leave the current muffler or replace and also would the ecm have to be reloaded under a different tune.
I should add I have looked over the shootout http://www.americansportbike.com/Exhaust_Shootout.html

Thanks guys, Brian

Get a Keda (look to the right if the page) and don't get a turbo unless you want your bike to blow up.

Oh and why would he need an exhaust if he would put a turbo on? That doesn't make sense.

I took it as sarcasm. Any dyno numbers on the kenda and i didn't think the ebr tune supported the muffler

if your bike is a 9 then the jardine actually makes almost the most hp. U do loose some down low though. it's not a bad pipe, just wont last forever

I should have specified I have a 08 12r. I just feel on the highway going 60 if i go to pass someone it literally bogs to the point I have no power. It seems the bike has more potential that's all.

I'd get a GB, Keda, or Drummer. The EBR ECM will probably work great with those. If unhappy after that, you can buy another ECM, une it yourself (via the Tuneversity--see ad on this site), or go with a piggy-back controller.

I have a GB on my '09 and am quite happy. The Keda that d_adams referred to above is a great deal. If I didnt have a GB, I'd have one of dean's (Keda) mufflers...

I realized today from 50-65 is the main dead spot. It literally feels like i have less than 10 horsepower. ugh

From the shootout report.
Buell
Stock exhaust, Stock Map

84.19 ft/lbs torque @ 5900
101 hp @ 6800

Take that how you will, but Buell advertised 103 hp at the crank, NOT at the wheel. To me, that test is horribly skewed. Personal testing and real world averages shows a stock xb12 has about 85 hp at the wheel. To me, that means that shootout (at least the stock run) was off by at LEAST 15%.

The absolute best result for any pipe was the micron, it showed 105.43 hp at the wheel on the same dyno, same bike. That nets you a whopping 4.4% increase in power over stock. Now, I seriously doubt that a (at the time of publication) $800+ exhaust system will only gain that small of an amount, people simply wouldn't pay for it. I know I wouldn't have stood for it if I were in the market for one back when they were produced.

I hate to say it, but that test was screwed. If the stock exhaust made that much power, why even buy an aftermarket one? The jardine pipe made 1 hp more than the stock according to that test. $300 for 0.4 hp? Really?

Jardine Best Power
85.24 ft/lbs @ 4400
101.36 hp @ 6800

I can see $600 for a 10+ hp gain. The D&D pipe LOST 4-5 hp power compared to stock if you go by that shootout and it's $600 new.

good thread.

eventually i will be getting the EBR and the Keda.

just gotta wait a little while...

Adams I would be interested in one of your exhausts but i would need to resolve the tuning issue. I currently have a ebr tune with k&n and jardine gp. I understand it can be re flashed but it sounds like a issue of ebr does not support your muffler under a tune.
