Is this common... I was doing a TPS reset and turning the adjuster and it got loose feeling so i went to pull the allen key out and the adjuster screw came with it. now what?

also now that I did a TPS reset the bike starts, idles around 800 and if i give it any gas it shoots up to 2k for a few seconds then dies

Try turning it with a small pliers.
Or, epoxy head back to cable end and do it tomorrow like I did. Adjustment cable's "head" came free from end of cable on my bike, too.

Later, when replacing cable, I greased the threaded parts at throttle-body.
Turns smooth & free now.

Current TPS reset process is suspect, given cable question posted.
Out of business doing TPS resets until after resolving idle adjustment.

well i just took the whole bike apart so i could turn the adjuster nut at the throttle body base. the adjuster cable is trashed and will need to be replaced. the tuning manual said turn the adjuster screw till it reads 4.7 on ECM spy. its at 3.9 right now would that cause this big of a problem?

ok so i got it running again and took it for a spin around the block. now hooked up to ECM spy it says my TPS is at 6.3.... is that ok? it seems to be idleing good... also i noticed i get a stutter at low speeds no matter what my RPM is, could that be lack of air? would a few holes drilled in the air box help that?

Should be around 4.7 to 5.1 I believe. I guess that's why they say you got to pull of the air scoop before doing a TPS reset. I can do it without that but always use my free right hand to hold cable taught and straight.

anyone? i gotta drive this to work in the morning... and if I do the airbox delete what and how do I adjust in ECM spy for this.

I'd try and let it idle with your hand on the gas for a while, when I was doing it I was twisting the throttle cable a lot to get it fine tuned, then the ECM just learned what to do. Good luck.

6.3 shouldn't hurt it. you'll just smell the gas and flood a little bit, maybe the worst you could do is foul a plug after a while, but you should be good for tomorrow. Do you have an airbox mod?

well I did drill some holes for now. Im going to go get a small sheet of metal this weekend and cut out my own air filter cover. I am not good enough to modify my airbox cover. does anyone make an aftermarket one? how well does this work in the rain....... i didnt cut any holes near the ram air so it has a direct path toward the air filter.

ok so I got the ECM spy stuff working a little better. now with my airbox all drilled out like this should I still be setting my TPS to 4.7?

so I set it to 5.5 and it still has a little stutter, and if I really get on from about 30, just WOT it boggs a little at first.

Don't forget a couple good long Learn-in rides: 1500-3500rpm @ 40-60mph before delving in with ECMSpy and adjusting stuff.
