after trying to find more info on the original Lightning tail bag to have one made, no joy...so found this at one of the pilot shops I've bought from before. The size could have been a bit larger, but didn't want something too large. The picture did not show the interior of the bag, bummer, cause it was preformed to hold a headset. No problem, it was glued down and was able to get most of it out. Will lay some fabric over the glue residue to cover that up. It will mount to the seat with straps like the original did, maybe add eyelets to pickup the seat strap screws for better security. Working in progress...

Progress...removed what was left of the insert and got some felt fabric, cut to shape roughly, fitted and cut a bit more for a perfect fit. Used fabric tacky glue, fast drying to set the felt in place. Looks pretty good so far and now to work on the straps.

thanks, appreciate it...was the next best thing since the original tail is next to impossible to find or afford considering they sold for $69 bucks when they were produced.

Looks good. I use a portable DVD case on occasion. I keep a tire pump/repair kit in there. Slips over the triple tail quite well and I use a Rok strap to hold it in place.
