Top box fitment to XB12R

As a new '09 XB12R owner (in Australia), I am looking at options to fit a small/medium lockable top box to the bike. I reckon I can fit a rear seat base to the plate of a top box, then it can be locked in placed (and removed) by using the rear seat key lock. Anyone done this?

Will all XB12R rear seats fit my 09 model? I would imagine so.

Finally, are the Knight lowered footpegs worth the extra $$? I am looking at 2" drop. Looks like Spiegler don't do them for my bike...?
