Quick question on these torque hammers... I've had a few pipes over the years.

-Special Ops
-Buell race can
-Drummer

How is the sound compared to any of the above? Internet videos are never close to real life as far as the audio goes?

Is it louder or softer then a race can?

I think it's safe to say it softer then a special ops or drummer.

Thanks

Agreed!

For the benefit of this thread, I figured I should mention the recent price drop to $600 to your door in the Continental US! [up]

Just bought my first Buell xb9 a couple of months ago. I started reading on this site about them before I purchased one and I believe I'm learning a lot about the bikes. I would like to thank everyone for the info on what to look for by the way. The bike has a junk Jardine on it now which is looking like it could fall apart at any time, and a little loud for me, but runs great. I believe the bike has a lot more to potential. I have been doing a lot of reading on the different options for an exhaust can. I think I have decided on the Hammer2. I'm not like a lot of you guys and do well with all the electronic stuff, more of a hardware guy. I can't even figure out how to start a new thread on this site. Anyway back to the point. Can I get more input on my options from you guys that know a lot more about these bikes. I just don't want to pick the wrong one and mess up a good thing. I have already done the high performance, unreliable bikes and just want a quick reliable bike. Thanks in advance.

I just purchased a TQ hammer from 50dro. I had good shopping experience with 50dro from my previous purchase. A little correction is that the TQ Hammer is now $635USD. I have done a lot a research lately for exhaust upgrade. And I do hesitated a bit when I was checking out, it's really quite expensive for a exhaust can.. With the same $$ i can get a catback exhaust for a car. I was also thinking of making my own muffler out of magnaflow can, bur at the end I still decided to get the TQ hammer, it's not a homemade/upgrade of the stock can, and no refill needed. I agress the outlet may not look as good as some others but it comes with DBkiller.. Hope I made the right decision. Now I m debating if I should buy the EBR race ECM or try to get the map that provided by 50dro to load into my stock ECM..

Hey, 50dro, can u pls give me some pointer for what I need to do to my ECM with the map that come with te exhaust?

Thanks for theorder! [up]

I'll be in touch via email concerning mapping.

Just installed mine and went on a test ride...WOW!

Pretty quiet at idle but has a mean bark when you're into it and the Twin Motorcycles map is flawless! Smooth torque delivery throughout & almost ZERO decel popping! I'm a fan!

We just finished up a full SPL (sound pressure test) on this and several other favorite XB exhausts. We'll be releasing a full report soon! Stay tuned! (no pun intended...) :)

I'm looking forward to the full report on the XB exhaust favorites! Thanks, 50dro. By the way, that TQ Hammer looks great on your bike!

Hang in there guys...Been busy prepping for the Spring riding season and the Dragon VII event.
In short though, the TH II is quieter than the other aftermarket exhausts we tested per the SAE test but growls with a twist of the wrist. Having now put a few hundred miles on mine (mostly in the Smokey Mountains! :p) I love it more and more with each ride. It has a "well tuned performance sound" to it if that makes sense. The supplied map seems dead on. nearly no decel pop whatsoever. Like a refined European exotic vs. a "performance Harley." I mean no offense by that because I like some of the other exhausts on the market too. That's just the best way I can explain it. It's more controlled, and less loud. I'm running mine w/o he db killer by the way... To me, it's plenty loud enough to get attention and quiet enough to coast by...well...those who might not like loud bikes :p

Stay tuned for more details including video clips of the test.

Lots of clips out there on YouTube but here's a sneak peek!

The SAE J2825 test is to be done at 2k, but we decided to test @ 2k, 3k, 5k RPM, then a rev to around redline. This video hasn't been edited at all so it's kinda basic (and rough). It was just about dark when we got to this exhaust so we were working under work lights...sorry for the poor video quality but you get the idea and can hear the sound. Enjoy!!!

I have the Torque Hammer exhaust on my XB9 (new this winter) but have yet to get the map installed. At first ride I like it. With the DB killer on the bike sounds almost smooth. Like a stock Euro v-twin exhaust. The TH gets somewhat loud(er) when I get on it. All in all a little quite for my taste. Your neighbors will like it. I then took out the DB killer and it got a deeper raw note. Much better in my opinion. Not as loud as the Jardine that I had on it, but can get real loud if you want to make a statement. So far I like it, I will keep posting my opinion as I log more miles and when I get the map installed.

Now I have logged 650 miles on the TH. I still like it. I have been running with the DB killer in it and now that it's broke in I think it's louder. That could just be me because I keep switching with and without the DB killer. I have yet to get the map installed but even with the stock map the pipe doesn't pop or anything. Can't wait to get the map installed to see how much better my bike will run.

Thanks again 50dro for everything...

got mine installed finally. The delivery from 50dro took only 1 week (from Holland) but i was waiting for my EBR ECM and other stuffs.

first of all, i am very happy with the build quality, the whole muffler was still wrapped with blue tap to protect the chrome when i received it ( but i painted it in cast iron anyways ). It sounds loud and low on my 08 xb12s, not a huge difference at idle. i noticed a smoother power delivery above 4500rpm but the vibration increased a bit. not sure about the real difference in HP because i also had EBR ECM and a open airbox mod done the same time. I found that there are some decel. popping when the engine is cold and there is a dead spot ard 2200-2500 rpm when i gradually accelerate, where the bike will just misfire once or twice, it gets better once the bike warm up. For this i am sure it has nothing to do with the muffler itself, but it could be the fuel map from EBR that's not mapped for this exhaust and the open airbox that makes it run a bit lean. I will put the stock air box back to see if there is any difference. if not, then i may have my ECM dyno tuned for my mods.

Cool! [up] Glad you like it. Looks like you tried to post a pic...Didn't come through :(

What exhaust is the EBR ECM for?
