Tomorrow morning I am leaving from Central Texas to Durango Colorado to ride in the mountains for a few days. I am trailering my '04 xb12r up and have a few questions. How compressed should I get the front end on the trailer? And if stopping overnight, should I unstrap it for the night so it doesn't stay compressed longer than it needs to be? And where are the good strap attachment points for the back end? I was thinking the passenger pegs but those are just bolt-on so I'm not sure how much stress they can handle. Thanks for your input.

i normally load the forks about half way.
A loop through the lower triple works pretty well or get your self a canyon dancer(strap mad to grab both grips).
i normally dont load the back and loop the rear just through the wheel to keep it from moving.
Stop a hour or so into your drive check and make sure it is all still tight and it's not moving.
if you stay over night your fine leaving it loaded on the trailer.
Spring wear comes from expansion and contraction not being held in one spot.

So just one strap looped through the bottom of the triple tree? I was thinking two up front, one on either side. And that makes sense about the spring wear.

Basically enough so the front end doesn't compress going over bumps and get unhooked.
I always do one on each side.
And I went to the canyon dancer myself too.

i do two up front, one off each side.

I always strapped 1 on each fork between the upper/lower triple tree, and connect them down and outward from the bike. Once you tighten them down, jump up and down on the pegs a couple times. If the front end compresses enough that you get a lot of slack, then just tighten a little more.

Then just a large strap across the rear seat, tight enough to hold it in place, but loose enough that I'm not ratcheting down on it.

Then just a large strap across the rear seat,

that's intersting, i would think the vibrations could potentially damage the vinyl? do you put anything under the strap?

i usually run a strap through the back wheel from rear corner to corner, and put a microfiber towel between the wheel and tire to prevent rubbing.

I pull my XB all the time on my trailer. 24 hour trip to southern California twice with no problems.
I used two straps for the forks. And one for the front and rear wheel to keep the bike from going forward and back.
I only ratcheted my forks down enough to wear a could shape the trailer and create no play in the straps. Again, over 80 hours on a trailer and no problems. Original fork seals too :)

Dude, I have that same trailer lol.

I use the two straps on the lower triple clamp. I've always ratcheted the **** out of mine. Like said before, one strap through the rear wheel pulling back like in the pic above. NOTE: Make sure you put the strap through a spoke WITHOUT the valve stem in it.
