Looking for a little help here guys. I'm planning a trip on Bruiser to RI in October to visit my daughter at college. After I visit with her I plan to take the long way home through CT, NY, PA, WV, and back to VA. I have a basic route saved on google maps but I can't find an easy way to set up a 300-400 mile days ride without guessing at a destination and mapping out each individual choice.
So here is my question: Is there an easier choice than google maps, or is there a feature I am missing that would give me a 300-400 mile window along a route to choose a stopping point? Be forewarned I am not real computer literate and I would prefer not to buy software if I can help it. I know many of you have taken epic trips and thought you may have some recommendations for me.
Thanks in advance,
Raz

Do you have destinations you want to go to? The route options on google maps allow you to snap your route to roads if that's what you're looking for. Or are you looking for suggestions on stopping points?

Only one or two particular destinations in mind. Just looking to set up a mileage window to make it easier to search for campgrounds, hotels, etc....... One key point I forgot to mention is that I do not have a smart phone, so mobile mapping is out of the question. The roads are the focus on this trip. Route 6 across the top of PA is one of the top roads I want to travel. One destination is my hometown in western PA so I want to hit as much of route 6 as possible.

Send me a list of destinations and roads you want and I can set it up and send you the map.

I appreciate the offer but part of the point of this trip is to find a method, map tool, or whatever that I can learn to do this on my own. For my 50th birthday(2015) I hope to travel across the US to the west coast and back, so I'm starting out with smaller trips to get my feet wet. I was just hoping there was an easier way, that's all.

I think google maps is probably going to be the easiest. The other free services tend to copy their tools.
