when i hit the ignition swtich it doesnt turn over it makes a cloud clacking sound over and over until i let go any ideas what the cause of this is?

Yea man, deep charge your battery and try again, I had this problem a few months after I got my bike because it got really cold outside. I ended up having to deep cycle charge my battery at autozone 4 times before it would finally work, but I didn't have a bad battery because once I got it to start again and took it on a long ride to keep the battery up I was good.

Few questions to confirm...

Have you had any cold weather?
Does your bike live inside or outside?
Have you been starting it for a second, few minutes without going very far or at all to show people or run a short errand?

Yeah I agree with both. The way starters work is the gear plunges out to engage a flexplate/flywheel with teeth on it and spins it real fast. The clacking your hearing is the plunger pushing out and then returning because there is not enough juice to turn it or to stay out. So it slams back and forth naking the clacking sound your hearing.

okay thx guys . . . yea sure enough it was the battery i just threw it on the charger and after an hour it started right up. . and yea i started it for like 2 minutes to show some freinds, so i believe that was the culprit

thx fellas
