Ok, so I have been reading over tunerpro info for the last couple of hours trying to get a solid understanding of it. As I just Learned from theoctopus(very helpfull, and highly recomended)of the endless abilities of the program. My confusion comes from reading over, and over, and over again old info of the having to use ecmspy/tunerpro ect to tune on an 08 and newer, mine being an 09 xb12r. So my question is, are you able to back up the exsisting ecm info using tunerpro like you would with ecmspy? if so how? Ive been threw a ton of topics on here about it and couldnt find what i was looking for. Are there any new how to links or info any of you know of? Ive also read threw the help section on tunerpro itself, it helped but, it didnt quite cover it all. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Jay

Are you on Xoptiinsider.com site, there are several that over the years have worked on these programs for tuning.AND Yes you can save your stock program. You will need ECM read along with Tunerpro to do theses tuning options.Make sure to go the Xoptiinside .com site don't know if you have all the products to work it but it's a great tool to have. Make sure to Save your Stock Epromm/Maps etc.so if you need to you can fall back on it.If thats not YOUR thing Erik Buell Racing .com has something (ECM) to get you going untill you are comfortable with Tuning yourself. With a Stock Ecm.See if Octopus is still teaching the on line classes, and see if that can help as well.Good Hunting.*Jimi

thanks, i think i have a better hand on it now. i have the ebr ecm and im not very pleased with it now. i thought it was ok for a while until i figured my bike out. I apprciate the help.

To back up the stock EEPROM, initialize emulation hardware, ensure a connection to the bike has been established, then click the "download bin from emulator" button (which looks like a down arrow). This will download the bin into the program. Then chose file, save bin, and save your stock EEPROM. This is a very important first step toward any future changes.

So...how do i get tunerpro to connect to my bike? I thought i had everything downloaded to do it, i installed the cord download from xopti's page. i have the xdf files, not sure wich one i would need for the race ecm. im just trying to back up the race ecm info for now so i can pull it and put my stock one back in. any help is appreciated.

thanks.

If you are trying to tune the EBR ECM, you are SOL, they are locked from EBR, Tuner pro will not tune the EBR ECM, only the stock one, and if I remember correctly, there was a discussion about that EBR has a flag that tells them if you try to mess with the Race Ecm, and it will void your warranty, don't try to tune the EBR ECM

ok so im trying to get my bike and tunerpro syncd up, but when i go to tools then select prefrences from the dropdown box. i go to configure the emulator and what not. and its saying cable not found or functioning? ive tried all the ports on my computer, downloaded the driver from xopti's page. How do I get it to connect, or what am I doing wrong? Ive watched the youtube video on it and rite now i beilive im doing it correctly but its not reading the cable? any suggegstions?

Welcome to the frustrating world of setting up TunerPro. If you can figure that part of it out, you're set for anything else you want to do with it.

It's what I spend most of my time with my clients doing. The setup is a bitch.

It's hard for me to troubleshoot each and every individual's issues with the setup. I've worked with probably 12-15 clients at this point, and each one has run into different problems while getting TunerPro to connect to the bike. For example, it took me 4 hours to set up TunerPro with my last client.

I'm a busy man, which is why I charge money for my services. I'm sorry I can't provide them for free.

Hey man whatever works, im busy too. I got it to connect I was just curious about tunerpro being able to fetch the map off the ebr ecm. but i guess you dont care if your not getting paid for the info. if your wanting to charge people the amount you are to help out with FREE software then go for it. I think im going to start charging people to teach them how to surf the internet.

hey d_adams do you have the stock computer in your bike still or is it a race ecm and what year is it?

Jay: I'm sorry that you feel that I'm somehow shorting you. I do remember spending about 30 minutes on the phone talking with you about everything, knowing full well you wouldn't be contracting my services. Nevertheless, I answered each and every one of your questions directly and fully. At the end of the day, I can't do for you for free what I do for my clients for pay because I have to protect a source of my income (and trust me, there's not a whole lot there to protect). I spend about 20 total hours per client to get their bike fully mated to TunerPro and set up with a custom tune based on datalogs. At $250/300 per individual (based on selected package), this works out to $12.5/$15 per hour.

Let me remind you that access to most any information is essentially free if you're willing to work hard enough. My job as a teacher (both at the university level and with TunerPro) is secured by the fact that people like to have help reaching their goals in a more timely manner. I can understand if you feel that this is unfair, but there is no need to be snarky about it. It is offensive after the time I spent with you on the phone.

As to your question about fetching the EEPROM from the race ECM, I did not see your PM until this morning, so forgive the delay. The answer is that I have had success fetching race ECM EEPROMs from a variety of ECMs. If neither you nor d_adams are able to obtain the EEPROM through TunerPro, then the way you have set up the software is incorrect. It is unlikely EBR has discovered a way to lock out communication with the ECM, and there is no way EBR can set up a flag that "phones home" if you fetch the info. I hope that answers your question more fully.

I know I seen a discussion here that Xopti had about the EBR ECM, and it is locked to any communication other than EBR proprietary software, and it will throw a flag if you try to do anything in the programming, and they/EBR will not fix it after you have screwed with it. JMO, but I would not try to screw with the race ecm, there are plenty of quality "Race Maps" to burn to your stock ECM

Ah, I misunderstood your comment. I thought you meant it would contact EBR should you try to connect to it. It is possible there is an internal flag to detect unauthorized modifications to the ECM.

I am with you on adjusting the race ECM. May as well sell it or send it back and build a custom map from stock.

Ok, got mine sorted, it's partially working anyway. Still need to sort out the data logging part. I ended up finding the buellioplugin.dll file and put it into the tunerpro folder. After restarting tunerpro, went to tools/preferences and switched the emulation (on the right side) to the buell plugin. Was able to download the bin from the ecm. Clicking the stacked arrows doesn't "connect" and allow me to record data just yet, but I haven't taken a lot of time to play. I'll get it sorted eventually. I have a couple of ecm's to use and another bike is about 15 minutes away that I'll try to get to today. I'd like to get a stock map and I know that bike hasn't been modified yet.
