Hey guys im gettingthis new bike( dirt bike) that ive found in new london Ct, so i want to rent a trailer in u haul, my question is: can i drive with the trailer on i-95, im in bronx,ny and going to pick that thing up in new london ct which is 200 miles round trip!! So are these trailers comercial or how does it work ?! Any help would save me money tha k you

No the towing trailers are not commercial you can tow them and you do not have to stop at weigh stations or anything. Are you using a car to tow or a truck? Because uhaul also rents pickup trucks? Also even if you rented a box truck from uhaul they have ramps and tie downs and you can also drive them on 95!

Its been a couple years since I done it. But the night before my brother left for his first tour of Iraq my mother and I drove down to Texas to get his belongings. We rented a u-haul in Texas and pulled it all the way to Indiana. Then turned it in in Indiana. Should be able to rent u-hauls anywhere and then turn them in anywhere. Now the fender did say 45mph max.. But it didn't seem to do to bad at 75-80mph haha

I have a toyota highlander that i think will do the job, so i just hook that thing on the back in im good to go than, i would rent a van too but i dont want to spend extra money since i have my car, van would be at least few hundred buck, and the trailer 50$ at max!

Yeah your fine with the trailer, I mean uhaul has motorcycle trailers for rent!

Lol i woudnt risk to do 75mph with a trailer, i would get a heart attack my bike would fly from the trailer haha

So i can get a trailer in ct and than drop it at a uhaul spot in ny? That would be much easier

Yeah usually they ask where your going and let you know locations near where your going that you can drop off at!

You can do it all online. NY is a state that usually does not have a tone of equipment. Uhaul lowers the rate to entice customers to bring it back up north. This way they don't have to pay employees to move the equipment around.

I've used enclosed Uhaul trailers plenty of times. I built a platform that fits perfect so the bikes were secure. I can get measurements if you want them. Simple 2x4s and a couple eyelets, done. Sorry about the clutter. I can clean it up and take better pics if you want.

I forgot to tell you it was easier to rent an empty trailer from home and return it to the same place. I live in Michigan so deadheading is pretty costly.

In nyc he second you put the trailer on any car/truck you become a commercial vehicle. No parkways. Any expressway is fine as long as the road has a number (i95, 495etc) your fine. No weigh stations that's only for big trucks with dot numbers on them. I drive a diesel silverado with 16 foot enclosed all over ny, ct, nj. It's a pain not being able to use the parkways.

Paulpud, so no parkways when i put the trailer on the car, but i 95 is good! Im not very very familiar with all these rules since i moved few years back

But thanks to everyone tho

wow, just checked out Uhaul website. Didn't know they rented motorcycle trailers. Cool, I can rent one for about $29 @ day or $104 @ week. That's how I plan on meeting some of you guys. Rent a trailer and travel with the bike. Girlfriend is willing :D . Just bought a 04' F150 4x4. Big V6, drives well loaded. Decent mileage. :)

Uhaul motorcycle trailer. I've rented them to take my bike to track days. Pretty small and light. Plus, it has a chock for the front wheel and hooks front and rear for your tie downs.
