If I ever have to come across anybody on a buell looking like this I will kick you into oncoming traffic for sure...

Full windshields sure aren't my cup of tea either, but I have great respect for folks who get out there & ride rather than stand around in parking lots fretting over how their bike looks. If it takes an ugly-ass windshield to get someone out on the road, more power to them!

LMFAO.

IS THAT AN 1125r FAIRING ON AN ULYSSES?!?!
...oh wait it's just a big windshield :p

You do realize you posted on a Buell forum right? Function over form? Kind of a big Buell thing lol. But yea they look funky. I'm sure they do their job though. Hey I'd say if you go fast enough off a cliff or other large drop off, you might even be able to hang-glide short distances with that windshield. I applaud their ingenuity.:D

+1

yea... but 700 + miles in one day and I'm praying to god to let me have one of those, just for at least the rest of the day.

I understand the reason for their use but they really are ugly. I am sure a better design could be used like some thing used on a KTM or a BMW GS and not these golf buggy windsheilds..........

As ugly as everything posted above is, it's still all better looking than than glowing LED effects lights & extended swingarms! :p

Beastrider,

Thanks for your useful post. I guess you can go back to chroming your rims and applying "Fear This" stickers now.

mmm. Seems good taste and standing in parking lots chroming your LED lights are seen in the same light on this blog. shame really. So calling sumthing ugly that IS ugly makes you a chrome shining fanatic. Pity. I thought Buells were beautifull bikes and a fantascic design even if they were a bit of an oddball being the "Other" Harley. I also dont like rear wings on FWD cars and aftermarket stick on bonnet vents but i guess that will also lead to sum abuse...

I think all of these have been pretty good examples of function over form. I think a lot of people outside of the Buell community don't find our bikes exactly beautiful but we know they perform beautifully and in the end, I'd rather have something that performs flawlessly than something that looks amazing that I hate riding. One of the main reasons I don't own a 916/996/998. Gorgeous bikes, horribly uncomfortable for me to be on for any extended period of time.

BTW, I owned a Kawasaki Versys before my XB and it was a great motorcycle. It performed flawlessly, handled and traveled well and never gave me an bit of trouble or complaint. I received many complaints and comments about its appearance in the past from riders and non riders alike but I never cared. It was a joy to ride and I don't have to look at it when I'm sitting behind the bars and gauges.
