Soooo my clock in my dash always resets itself or shows the most random time it can throw out at the moment... My odo stays the same but just like the time all the other functions reset as well, like my trip odo and my "how far you've gone on reserve" resets itself too. Can I fix this or are our clocks just screwed...?

New battery? If so make sure both terminals are secure. Most aftermarket batteries require bushings to get the cables to sit flush. A friend had the same issues and it was fixed with bushings on the battery terminals. Good luck!

My clock is never correct. If my bike sits for a few days or a week, as the starter tries to turn over through that first compression stroke, it basically kills the battery for half a second.… And there goes the clock.

I had the same problem. It also caused to starter to hesitate for just a split second before starting the bike. Once I replaced my battery, both problems went away. I also bought a cheap battery load tester from Harbor Freight which confirmed the battery was done.

I also didn't tighten down one of the terminals as well as I should have. I have a problem with over tightening bolts, so I went soft as not to strip or break the terminal. My bike cut out while on my commute home from work, luckily I do not take the freeway and was between clumps of cars. Sure enough, one of the terminals had a loose connection. I tighten it up and its good to go.

I have a problem with over tightening bolts

this is common with peoples calibrated arms :D

this is why I follow the service manual specs...torque values have a range, low to high to choose from. everyone seems to be afraid of torque values cause of all the stripped oil drains, primary inspection covers, etc... in the almost 9 yrs. of wrenching on my bike, have only stripped the primary inspection cover once. and still torque it to specs. after the repair. reason for the repair, cause I rushed the job and not paying attention.

How do I set the time?

key on
hold both the M and the R buttons in simultaneously until all clock numbers flash.
release both buttons
press right button to change minutes....press left button to change hours
when you reach the correct time then simultaneosly press both buttons again and locks in the time.
