Well with Valentine's day coming up I'm sure some of us are realizing we better do something, and for the rest of you; it's next Monday.
I'm at a loss on what to do. I've made the dinner reservation, but want to do something to surprise and need your help. Figured we could all brainstorm here and collectively get some ideas going. Maybe the experienced can give ideas that worked well in the past?
Me: Dating several years, both early twenties, not proposing next week, budget of around 100 bucks.

It really depends on your relationship, and the message that you want to send.

If you want to go with the simple, unexpected, yet deeply romantic gift, find a copy of the book "True Love" by Robert Fulgrum. Be sure to write something poetic and personal on one of the blank pages at the front of the book.

Or, if your relationship is at the point where you can do something that is not typically romantic, but she would still see the fun and romance in, how about tickets to Monster Jam. Nothing says love more than an evening of car crushing. It's coming to your area the weekend of the 19th. For Nancy's Birthday two years ago, one of her gifts was a night at the Professional Bull Riders Tour. We had a blast!

Or try the book and the tickets...romance and senseless fun. Two things every relationship needs to survive.
 
If you give her a kitten in a box, make sure you put air holes in it first. Really helps eliminate any awkward crying.
 
I got in trouble a little while back for not knowing what Heather's favorite flowers are. Not that I don't care, they just all look the same to me. I always buy her $50 in roses, and she always just gets pissed, haha. This year I need to try to find something she'll like. Chances of me guessing the favorite are slim, but at least find some that keep me out of trouble.

Bought my girl a 3/8 kt diamond heart shaped ring. Gave it to her already. I plan ahead otherwise I forget. Lol!
 
make the other 364 days of the year special (like pyrat posted, romance and senseless fun) and leave the overpriced valentines day scam to others...

all the women are so very different, it makes it hard to figure them out sometimes, not to mention as the years go by they want different things so flowers might work for you now but not later , you have to do something very different and very UNEXPECTED, if you really dont know what she wants or might like , ask her friends they will know.
Never ask her , they hate that & you will in deep ***** trouble with her.
they want you to alreay know or do something to figure it out , it lets them know that you pay attention to every little thing about them, or that you will do what it takes to find out what she whats. because you should know or already be doing this anyways if you really care about her and the little things she does.

this year I will give her favorite flowers Lillies, with a gift certicate that says, I am treating her all day spa treatment .

you gotta make the rest of the year great to, plus ,
not just one or two great days a year for her.
you got to out of your way & out no where just suprise her with something special and very unexpected too.
 
I in the same baot. If I get flowers, they are nice and last for two weeks if your lucky. Then she tells you that you spent way too much money on something that she has to throw in the trash. If you buy her jewelry, she loves it your wallet is empty and the credit cards are maxed and on top of all of that, she wants something bigger next year. That is if you dont get "I wish this diamond was just a little bigger" before then. Either way your screwed and are going to blow a lot of money on something that she will really like for a short amount of time and then hint at how disappointed she is at her gift. Me personally, I think I am going with the spa treatment and a home made cooked meal, but who knows. It too is a short lived satisfaction for her. Or better yet I may go with flowers, spa, dinner and jewelry since her birthday is 10 days later. ****, anyone want to loan me some money.:p
 
$100?? what ever you do make sure you give her a card and yes write something good in it!Take her out for dinner (her fav place) order desert to go.Go back to her place tell here you have something special planned for her she'll love that.Now in your bag of goodies few flower her fav,bath oils or soaps,candles,music and your desert.Fill bath,put flower pedals outside door going into bath few on floor & few in bath.Then proceed to feed her desert in bath and massage her.she will love you for it just because you put so much thought into a wonderful night.Plus keeps cost down ,get laid and save money life dosent get any better than that!Good Luck Lover Boy[cool]
