Video of crash

Buellxb Forum

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

1) setup for corner
2) shed some speed
3) lean over
4) front tire slides 2 feet to the right after hitting that tar snake patch (103 degrees that day), and try to save it!!!!
5) wake up in ER.

I have ZERO recollection of what happened between 5) and 4)... I have no memories of the shit you see in the video at all (me standing up after the crash and all) no ambulance or helicopter ride memories at all... NOTHING! I guess I should be glad cose I must have been in some serious pain...

Gloom: I don't think so, but who knows... I had pushed the 16's much harder in the past... love that tire.

Ztied: will try and let you guys know.

Wow...... Lucky you came out of that with relatively minimal damage and a quick recovery. Good advertisement for wearing gear.

Wish I knew why I wasn't wearing gear when I went down in 2006.........

- ~ 6in skull fracture (missing ~8 weeks of my memory, from a week or so before the accident until I woke up in the hospital)
- broken collar bone, metal plate.
- shattered left shoulder blade.
- broke both bones below my right knee, metal plate on my shin bone
- ~ 9 weeks in the hospital
- ~ 15 months until I was able to return to work.

[down] Thats a lot of damage to your person. Glad your ok. OP i hate to say that video is cool, because its not cool that you crashed. But it is neat that you have it recorded, especially if you dont remember it.

06xb: damn man I can only imagine what you went through... 9 wks in the hospital... wow. I believe that ATGATT saved my life.

Zero: I didn't have the balls to watch it for weeks after the crash... but now I agree... I am glad I have it... pretty miraculous chain of events for the camera to catch pretty much the whole thing...

wavex: Sometimes I still have trouble believing what I lived through, let alone making a 95% recovery. From what I've heard/read, less then 5% live through what I did and less then 1% make a full recovery. I would have rather ruined ~1000.00-1500.00 worth of gear then deal with a 595,000.00 hospital bill.

Wavex, you have to remember that before you went on that ride you promised to send me $1,000,000.00
I mean theres no way you forgot about that! Do you remember where you put my routing number or do I need to PM you? :D Glad you alive.

06xbss: [up]

djs: unless that deal happened while I was "flying in the air", you got nothing :)

Alright, good news, AAA paid the extra $1800 for the frame replacement... I had to stop by the Harley dealer today to sign the repair order... Here is the bike as of this morning (they didn't fix much yet, but have most of the parts):

Expected lead-time: 1 month!

Wowie.
An all too familiar sight. Crashing sucks, very glad to see that you were dressed for it. This is one hell of an ad for wearing proper gear. It sure was nice of your bike not to grab on to that rail, or go over it for that matter. Just goes to show XBs are built like freaking two-wheeled tanks. I threw mine around everywhere. It eventually took being hit by a car head on while we were both going about 30 to take her from me. Kept the instrument panel and flyscreen though, ha!

Thanks for sharing brother, the world needs to see this. Since moving back to the mainland I haven't seen one person in proper gear, and helmets are rare. I just plain don't understand.

Thanks for sharing the video. Glad you're alright and that your bike is all good too. Working as a medic in Chicago you def have a diff perspective of bike riding and accidents. Ride safe everyone!
