Trying to get insurance on my 12ss and when one company runs the vin it comes up Harley vrscf. The vrod muscle?? The other place I tried, they typed in the vin and nothing came up! So they punched in the Buell and xb12ss and it popped up a street sport 2 and wanted to charge me as much as a gsxr 1000! Anybody else having this problem with the vin#??
[confused]

No way! You guys must be ticket heavy teenagers! I got insurace direct through Harley - (dairyland) for $63.00 a month full coverage! You should check them out. Go right through your dealer site.

I'm 23 and have a clean record.

Unfortunately, a side-effect of having some assets to my name is the need for an umbrella policy (stupid hard work). That umbrella policy dictates where I need to purchase my vehicle insurance, and what type of policy it has to be.

I am 24, a few tickets. Progressive was $52 a month, full coverage for me... Winter now though so I don't pay anything. SAD

I am pushing 50. Geico with comprehensive but no collision is under $400. Add another $900 for collision.
Insurance companies go by CC. A Sportster 1200 Will also run about the same as a GSXR 1K.

My mom is a insurance agent! They also go by make and model. A gixer is way more expensive than a sporster! I know, I had both. Some insurance companys also have charts that tell them what models have been in more wrecks, if they are classified as race/competition,or even custom/one of a kind. But also age of a driver and driving history are big factors as well. My son wanted a Buell but ended up buying a sporster because insurance on the Buell was around $250 a month and only $90 on the sporster.

Same here around a $1000,no tickets ,no accidents

as I said in another post im paying 170 every 3 months with progressive 23 with 1 ticket... Oddly enough when I bought my bike my title actually says Harley under make had to go to the court house to make corrections

I had something similar when I got my 12R. It comes up as a 12X, and thus immediately knocked my ins. down to 440/yr full coverage from the 1000+/yr they were quoting. I hope they pay if something ever happens.

Ya, my credit union financed 100% because it said Harley on the title. Otherwise they only finance 75% of any other motorcycle because its classified as recreation[confused] Oh well, what they dont know helped me get my new 1125R:D

Thanks for all the input. Looks like some people have had the same problems so.. Sounds like the price isnt too bad compaired to some of you , but I am 42 with no tickets (knock on wood).. I just find it hard to beleive it cost more than my new Vrod Muscle!! Oh well, its only money, right?:p

I have two Buells...a 2009 Firebolt and 2009 Lightning Scg. I insure both on one policy with GEICO. The Firebolt costs me $553 per year, and the Lightning cost me $445 per year. That is with full coverage.

And full coverage to me is: $300,000/$300,000 Bodily Injury; $100,000 Property Damage; $300,000/$300,000 Uninsured and Underinsured; $100 Comprehensive Deductable; $500 Collision Deductable; and FULL TORT (That's important!!! Take it from an attorney!!!)

Granted...I'm 39 without any accidents, tickets, etc. :)

My 08 Ss Shows up as an R on my insurance poilcy, which is $468 a year through allstate. 28, no points on my record of any kind.

you guys need to look at Progressive.. My '04 XB12R (I'm 40) was $235/year for the first year I had it and then they dropped it to $225 a year... and that's full coverage with a $1000 deductible.
