for those of us not exactly at the top of the computer mountain, a friend of mine directed me to vuze.com basically the new age napster? it took a minute to download 3 minutes to load and 3 seconds to type in "twist of the wrist 2" and an hour later i was watching it in avi format. super easy real fast torrent program. i'm sure there are a ton of other better faster ways to get stuff but this was extremely easy and very user friendly for those of us who don't live at the keyboard creating programs[up]

As soon as a torrent program gets too easy to use and too user friendly.. I quit using it. I prefer utorrent. It's been out for a while now and is getting pretty popular but its still the fastest I have used. Everything is encrypted so your ISP can't see what you are downloading. Without good encryption, you will be setting yourself up for warning letters in the mail about piracy (at least comcast does). I am also a member of a lot of private torrent sites so thats some added security. I don't know what kind of encryption Vuze is using now but it was not that great a few years ago. Be careful what you download. Some files have trackers inside them, can lead the cops to your front door. Always read the comments about the file to make sure it's a legit file.

I do a lot of downloading so I make sure I am as safe as can be :)

I believe that Vuze used to be called Azureus or something like that. I used to use that back in the day but on the rare occasions i use BT anymore i use uTorrent. I liked the old Azureus interface then when they tried to incorporate a bunch of other features like media player and all that jazz into a BT client i jumped ship.

Watch out for those charter letters! I know what you are referring to!

Azureus preferentially funnels traffic to other azureus users. This means that you receive lower download speeds when using that client, and your upload speeds are essentially throttled back. It's a ****** way to work.

Pick up utorrent/transmission and just search for whatever you want on any of the public torrent trackers (thepiratebay, mininova, etc.. etc..).

Or you could go all out and gain access to private torrent trackers (like me!) and get whatever you need, whenever you need it, at extremely fast speeds.
