I want to go for a cross country ride with a bunch of friends but I do not want to do it with the XB because:

1) I don't want to put the miles on it
2) I want to complete the trip on a bagger

I looked into renting a nice bagger but it is $$$. I don't have garage space and such, otherwise I would own two motorcycles...

Do I have any other options?

I'm on opposite side, I want to put as much miles on my motorcycle as possible, because I want to see how far it can go.

No effing way in hell would I ride a bagger across this beautiful country!!!!! Imagine all those cool fire roads, trails, swimming holes you could miss. What if ya have to go to the bathroom and you know what I mean, keep a roll of TP with you and off in the woods you go. I would go w a heavyweight adventure machine like a BMW, KTM, big suzook. ****, do what buellybagger said, buy a ully.....sell it when ya get back. If you take a loss I'm sure it would cover the rental costs you would've paid on that road pig Cadillac!!!!
Those adventure bikes are friggin sweet too.... Decisions, decisions lol.....

Borrow this from Lunatic:

No matter what the case I definitely struck a nerve on the forum... Lol madness has ensued.....

IMG_2295.jpgDO IT!!!

If you're camping and fire road guy, get the ULY.

If you're a backroad and cheap hotel guy, buy bags for your XB. You will be surprised how little you really need. I never even did laundry, but I bought a new pack of undies and socks at Walmart when mine were dirty:)

I thought my XB was totally comfortable enough for the 100-120 miles between gas stops and I was praising the Baby Jesus that I was NOT on a Road King everytime I found a sweet curvy road (which was a LOT).

Which brings me to my original point... DO IT!!!!

Please allow me to suggest some rules for your trip. All are guaranteed to make it better or your money back.

Plan less. Even less than that. keep going... a little less... ok that's good.

Do NOT travel any interstate highways. The only exception to that rule is the I-70 west of Denver through the Eisenhower Tunnel and past Carbondale.

Do NOT plan your next stop until after lunch, but before sundown.

If you feel like you want to 'get there', don't speed up! Slow down! or even spend a whole day not going anywhere. It really works.

At every gas station, ask a person filling up their car wheres a good place to go/eat/ride. (Got a home cooked Thanksgiving dinner once:up:)

Always say "Yes." (Got laid too:))

Most of all, Do it. There are no bad motorcycle trips.

three words for ya: throw-away underwear!
save those thread bare socks, **** stained underwear, moth eaten t-shirts that you accrue during the winter. keep them all in a nice little plastic bag in the closet. leaving for cycle trip? pack as much as you need and discard nightly. if motel-ing the chamber maids will wonder the next morning what the hell happened in the room but by that point you'll be miles down the road and shedding precious cargo weight as the trip progresses.

I've been edgeaconnated !

You know why Chuck Norris never has problems with his Buell not starting ??????

Because it's afraid not to start !

P.S. Kind of gross, so your saying if you lose the buddies your riding cross country with, you can find them by following their discarded underwear along the road ?
