Well, it happened. The inevitable when riding a bike, it's not if you will go down, it's when...

I don't remember the accident, and it happened on the freeway. I remember getting on a about 2 miles before then woke up on the side of the road with people all around. There was no other vehicle that was involved that stopped, and no witnesses stopped either. Although, according to the officer on the scene it looks like I was rear ended or side swiped. After seeing the bike, the rear wheel, swing arm, and tail was broken. Which leads me to believe the cop is right and I was rear ended. So I assume it was a hit and run. I was wearing a helmet, jacket, gloves, boots and regular denim jeans. All I suffered was road rash to my knees, thigh, and a little on my lower back, as well as a swollen foot. Be sure to always wear your riding gear, I could have been much worse off.

I'm assuming to buy a motorcycle camera, so if something happened it is going to be captured.

I believe it is time to spend insurance money for EBR 1190.

I'm glad that you're still here to tell your story. That's pretty scary man. Sorry to hear about it. Wicked is right. These highways and busy streets are dangerous. I almost t-boned someone and nearly sideswiped recently. I was going 60mph (in a 55) at night on a back highway. The guy pulled out in front of me so I slowed down and he starting coming across my lane. So I veered into the turning lane. He kept coming. At that point I really grabs the brakes even though I was veering left. So, the bike started to wobble, I released the brakes and swerved further left into the oncoming lane. He finally stopped as I rode past about 2 feet in front of his bumper doing about 40mph. Unless I'm putting around town, I only ride on the highway if I'm en route to the twisties, my woman has my car , or I need to use the HOV lane and lane splitting because I'm going to another city by necessity :upset: Stay safe Buellers

Always hate to see a fellow Bueller go down. Glad to hear you're OK in the end here. Sad your bike couldn't walk away from it as well. Best of luck on a speedy recovery!

We are all happy to hear you weren't hurt anymore than you were. It is a fear we all have. But look at the positive, you didn't sustain any serious injury. It sucks that the bike is beat up so badly.

Update, got the bike home yesterday

Glad your feeling well enough to start thinking about the bike, I got to look at pictures of my bike and though it's totalled, it's still in a lot better shape than yours, looking at your damage, you are a very lucky fellow, I guess we both are. I now have demon's at night and, don't sleep very well, I seem to keep revisiting the crash in my dreams but, hopefully like you, nothing is going to keep me from getting back in the saddle once I am able to.

Feel better, don't rush it.

Thanks, I wish you a speedy recovery as well.

I am thankful to not remember the crash, and to have accidentally turned off my camera. If I remembered, or watched footage of it, I don't know if I would be so positive about it.

i don't know how i missed this thread cole but wishing you well and hoping you're on the mend. that looks horrific. this board is a much better place and much more entertaining with you on it. that poor XB didn't fare so well.

it wasn't your time, bro, you got more work to do in this life. Now, let's begin talking about what bikes you like because there are a lot of exciting and awesome machines on the market. Might I ask if you have considered any of the KTM 1290 offerings?
