It's so crazy! I have loved motorcycles my whole life and am lucky to have ridden all sorts of them for all sorts of experiences. This one tops them all as even the multi-thousands of miles have never had me so competent and confident on a type of machine that I love so much. It sure ain't cheap, but how in the Hell do I ever stop racing now!?! Haha

Still can't believe how far we both improved in one season. Sadly I haven't seen my riding buddies in much too long. It's just not worth the rush and the risk on the street for me and that makes it hard to justify the 6am dawn patrol ride up the canyons on a Saturday morning:(
But look at this! Just LOOK at it!

We checked out the pics from the last round and theres actually a few good ones for once. Bubbles is 503, I'm the Gorilla on 116, and our fren-esis Jimmy is 853. Tight racing every lap!

I couldn’t even get close to keeping up with Bubbles and the Biertheif in the twisties.

And they were on baggers!

Every now and again there was a long fast straightaway where I could catch up, but once the turns started again, they were long gone. Effortlessly.

That was a fun! But damn if you shot off like a rocket on that V-rod when you got the chance:applause: Bubbles riding back on the StreetGlide:eek-new: who'd have thought? She's weighs less than one of the wheels on that pig:eek-new:

She dominated that bike and made it her b*tch. She also gave me a participation award and made sure I felt important and special. :black_eyed:

Fast forward (PUUUNNNN!!!!) to CRA Round 2 2023 and we got to got to a private member only track just south of Phoenix, AZ for the first time ever. It was very interesting to get a very short day of practice (4, 20-min sessions), try to learn all the fast lines and not get lost, and then have to qualify the next morning at race pace:upset:

The locals had a few thousand laps more than we did, and it showed:sorrow: So no trophies for Bubbles or I on this weekend, but our pace was very similar and we had a BLAST duking it out in the back. We kept dropping lap times every outing and the track surface was stellar! I think the highest we placed was 5th and 6th, but it wasn't any less fun

I love this pic because it looks like I'm taking her on the outside:

But Noooooo:/

The hairpin at the end of the straight had me dragging knee, toe, and lower leg, dang I might need elbow sliders if we go back!

We even had a special guest come visit us and hang out! By "special", I mean 34:19.

And he's retarded.

Many moons ago I traveled around racing at new tracks. It was tough riding many of them for the first time! The locals show no mercy as they see you as some out-a-town dickhead, there to steal their trophies.

Used to get there the night before, studying track maps. Trying to figure out corner markers/braking/etc.. It helped some, but was still tough. I was racing in the expert class so you were expected to "send it" as the cool kids said 10 years ago.

I remember that for some reason I did well at Topeka (KS) right away. Growing up in a tough family - maybe felt at home, seeing inmates playing in the yard while riding? Who knows...

Anyways - the thing that was pretty awesome about the entire experience was that after racing different tracks - when I went back and raced at my home track I was quite a bit faster. Hopefully you 2 find the same.

Ya, I really enjoyed the whole experience. Even knowing I was on the back foot, the drive to succeed was an extra push I don't normally get at the home tracks of Buttonwillow/Chuckwalla/Streets. Done so many laps there it a matter of inches and tenths, so to drop a second or so of lap time every outing and find a fast way around the esses, was exciting!

We both did get to within 1, 1.5 seconds of the lead times, and I think one more day would have had us competitive:angel:

Theres 2 more new tracks on the schedule this year too. Never been to ThunderHill and the Brand new second track at Buttonwillow should be done! We also get to bust a cherry and have a track day at Laguna (Weathertech):love_heart:
