What RPM's?

So once you guys reach cruising speed, what RMP's do you run, I'd you still have heard left? Meaning, in town, what do you stay at? I've been between 2500 and 3000rpm.

In town at 45 mph, I tend to cruise in 5th gear, which gives an RPM of about 2260. The exhaust note there is muted and less annoying than with 4th gear at ~2660 rpm.

As low an rpm as reasonable. Usually try to stick to about 2k minimum on the Buell

run high rpm's for me, smoother and quicker throttle response. less lumpy feeling

For cruising I've found that right around 2.5k gives best gas mileage (obviously) without getting too bogged down, meaning you'll have to be a little easier with the throttle. You won't have the max torque, throttle response, and smoothness as compared to higher revs. A quick double downshift will cure that though.

For an xb9 that sounds right - xb12 is probably happy 250-500 rpm lower.

With wife on board (Uly) 2500- me alone, 3500- try to stay in power band on back roads, won't wheelie under 3000, 3500 up- no problem! .

In final gear every 1000rpm is 20mph on a xb12

Xb9 turns around 4500-5000rpm at 80mph but revs higher

i realy dont pay attention to the rpm. i go by the feel and sound of the bike. if it is bogging down ill drop a gear. if it reving to high i go up a gear.

That's what makes me try to go into 6th all the time just the be let down...makes me looks like a total newb when the revs drop and come right back up...
