What tires do you have?

Lando i just put pilot pure 2ct's on my 1125r and seem to be getting more head shake aswell [confused]
Compared to the stock corsa 3's the are a huge improvement in grip i only got 2900 out of the corsa's and they had less grip than my dunlop road smarts.
I ordered the power 2ct's they sent pure's they where about 20 more but i am loving the grip and look wider even though there the same size.
I masured them the width the same until you measure the tread it is 1/2" wider

I just ordered the Michelin Pilot Power's for my XB12S. The Dunlop's that I have on the bike I got 3682 miles out of them. I notices a few hundred miles ago with the Dunlop's the rear tire was slowly loosing air pressure. I road it over the weekend and after being parked in the garage for 3 days my rear tire was flat. I filled the rear tire up to 30psi in the morning and by the time I came home from work the rear tire was flat. Good thing I have a Honda XR650L to ride while the Buell is down.

I found a set of Michelin Pilot Powers shipped to the door for $211.47. I found them at Bike Bandit. Below is the link.

I got 10k km's on the original diablos as well before I saw the cords shadowing through. Bike's an '07 12S, so Lando is pretty on the mark with the wear he got.

Concerning the head shake everyone is talking about with the Michelins: I just put a set of Power Pures on and noticed the same thing. The bike was dialed in and locked down before. One thing you gotta remember is that these tires are 2lbs lighter per set than comparative tires. The front wheel will change direction A LOT easier because of the decreased gyroscopic effect. Think about it...the weight is being removed from the outter most part of the wheel assembly (where it will have the greatest effect on gyroscopic force). So, it takes a little bit of a lighter touch on the bars, because the front end is more willing to change directions. The profile of the tires is also more aggressive than the old diablos. I find the bike is more willing to lay down entering a corner now.

Just my 0.02cts

Got standard Power Pilots from Rocky Mountain ATV for $193 delivered. Ride great, I'll get the CT's next time since they last longer.

Check jakewilson.com next time, they have the set of powers for $166 shipped and the power 2ct's for $181 shipped (both using code jw009 at checkout).

I have the regular Pilot Powers. When you ride two different bikes set up identically but with PP's on one and Corsa III's on the other: I bet 100% you will choose the PP's. Not saying the Corsa is a bad tire but riding on both in the same day, brand new, back to back, the cornering on the PP's are AWESOME!

That is a smoking deal. I thought mine were cheap! Well they are comparatively to most searches but thanks for the tip. BTW, how much discount do you get from using the promo code?

I did not have much choice with my first tire change last Friday. I was out on a trip from San Diego to Joshua Tree National Park when heading down the 243 into Banning (bad ass road!)the cords came out of my rear tire and I was a LONG way from home. Used the GPS on my phone and found a Mom & Pop bike shop about 16 miles away called "American Idle Motorcycles". They had a set of Michelin Pilot Power 2CT's. I really liked the Corsa III's but it's to early to judge the Pilots just yet. Initial feel is very good but I need to scrub them in a bit to get a good idea how they do. I would of paid anything that day and I got both tires mounted and balanced for $411. That a good deal?

Not horrible for where you were at. I was just up that way last week and I know there is NOTHING for an hour or more in either direction. In San Diego you may have saved a little but not much if you walked into a store/repair shop. I ordered mine and had Moreland's in Encinitas mount them for around $325 total.

I took my rims to the Honda dealer and they mounted and balanced my Michelin's for $56 bucks. The rear tire equalized it self and did not need any wheel weights. So far I have been pleased with the Michelin Powers.

Dunlop Sportmax Q2's

I just got new Corsa III's to replace my original diablos at 3300 miles. I was looking to buy the new pilots on the internet but as I called around a local shop had the diablos Corsa III's in stock for $178 then there was mount and balance, taxes, disposal fee the final price was $252. I'm happy with my choice I have the new tire goo worn off now and tried them out on the twist.

I ride with Bridgestone BT014 on my XB12s. I changed these as soon as I could from the shitty Dunlops which came as standard on it. The rear is a 180/55. the 55 gives a quicker turn in. It all depends on riding style, these are a fairly sticky tyre and hold well riding on twisty roads as I do in the UK. Going to a wider tyre in my opinion does not improve grip , unless you ride in a straight line everywhere. In the past I have changed rear tyres for a smaller one than standard as this improves cornering. As for getting 10k out of a rear tyre, you really must try harder as I only get 1500 miles from mine. But I only ride them to the tread wear indicator not to the cords as I value my life!!!

I have Pilot Powers on my X1 and picked up a nail on the interstate, when I hit the exit ramp the bike pushed bad but I was able to muscle it thru the turn. My point is even after losing most of the air presure the tire was stiff enough to keep me from crashing into the retaining wall.

I have been considering the Dunlop Sportmax Q2's. Strmvt has posted a pic, but not an opinion yet. Does anyone have any experience with these tires? The reviews are good but I never quite trust online reviews to be unbiased.
My stock D208's are still good, but my rear has a cut that worries me. It doesn't leak, but it is deep.
I wonder if I could safely put a Q2 on the back and keep my D208 on the front for now?

Hey Williegoat,

Try the Michelin Pilot Power's. They have been a great tire I won't go back to the Dunlops.
