While riding, if I roll on the power kinda quick at anything less that 3k RPM, it sounds like clanking spoons for a second and then it goes away. If I roll on slower...no sound. The power feels normal, but that sound is there. If I roll on after 3K...no sound. What is that? Anyone else have that?

I run full synthetic AMS Oil if that makes a difference.

I do have a 12. '05 XB12s. That normal? It sounds like I'm stressing the engine. Do you guys have that?

I have an 07 12R and my bike does it also. I was thinking about the front motor mount at first but Ive just learned to deal with it.

Thats what I thought. If i drop a gear I'm over 3K and no problem. It just seems weird to lug the engine with a moderately quick roll between 2500-2900 RPM if it red lines at 7. And even in aggressive riding I rarely get the engine above 6500. But if thats the deal, thats the deal.

yup, kinda the deal with big twins, especially in high ambient temps, traffic situations, etc. best to pull away smooth from those conditions until some air gets on the motor and the revs are tad higher.

the syn youre running helps, as does running the highest octane fuel you can find. i shoot for 93 and dedicated pump stations.

one thing to check is your static timing, some were set slightly advanced from the factory. my '05 12 was. i reset that to spec and it helped. also saw great improvement with the 2007 stock fuel maps and timing tables. the race maps/tables would give me ping now and then, the stock maps allow me to chug real low and crack the throttle. no ping.

Interesting. Thanks. Well, I always put supreme in my bike, and the oil gets changed between 2k and 2500. I'm thinking of making the switch to Royal Purple but nobody close to me sells it.

Hey NOMORE4s4ME, is there an Oreilly's Store near you? And have you checked Royal Purple's homepage for the list of Royal Purple Dealers near you? I was suprised that Oreilly's carried it and they are just over 2 miles from my house, well hope that helps out some. Royal Purple is the $h!t BTW...

The royal purple site said 40miles or something. I think I'm just gonna order a case on line, or turn an oil run into a nice little ride. I'll look for an Oreillys though, thanks

Good luck finding royal purple cycle max. Everywhere I went, people looked at me like I was asking for piston return springs or blinker fluid

I'm sorry for you guys, but remember that Royal Purple for the engine oil is 20w50 and the Primary Oil is 10W30...Just putting that out there for ya'll.
