where can I buy an oil filter?

look out...noob question. I have a 09 lightning ss and am looking for a replacement oil filter I can purchase locally. I am about 1.5 hours from the dealer and the local harley dealer was nasty when they told me they didnt carry them. Can I get one at autozone etc?

$2.50 at Wal-Mart. Its a good filter and it is all black just like the Buell filter. They actually look extremely alike, wouldnt doubt if they were made by the same company.

Edit....After a little research I found that the Buell filters and this filter are both made by Champion. Anyone else have any more info on this?

got a mobil 1 m1-103 from autozone and the mobil 1 v-twin oil. works great on my '09. thanks!!!

Purolator PL14477 also fits, and allows for increased filtration via increased filter element. It's about 3/4" longer, but otherwise identical. Just be sure to add more oil to make up for the larger filter. See pix.

I figured this out because the longer filter is also the one called out for my car ('08 Scion xB), and the shorter one for my wife's car ('05 Scion xA), but many manufacturers don't make the longer one, so they spec the short one for both. I use the long one for both (well, now all three).

won't work on my bike as I have the Micron exhaust the bracket for the chin fairing would be in the way as it is there is approx 1/4in btwn the bottom of the filter and the bracket

I buy some high performance filters from Fram for my XB12 at my local Farm and Fleet

the high performance filters have the same part number and just say "high performance" on the box. The Fram filters are the same size and work at least as well as the stock Harley ones. I've always run these because they are a wopping $3 for the normal ones and $6 for the higher performance
