Im buying a trailer here soon and had a few questions about where and how to strap down my firebolt. First off its just a simple 5x8 trailer and the strap hooks are on the four corners, should I install my own d-rings a little closer to the bike? Second where exactly is the safest place to put the straps to tie it down? I no longer have the passenger peg mounts, wasn't sure if people use them. Thanks in advance. The trailer is brand new but with no deck, I'm putting in my own deck and a front wheel chock and maybe d-rings closer to the bike, just not sure how close.

Ive got a lightning, but I trailered my bike to bring it home when I bought it. Ratchet straps each side around bottom triple/forks to front corners of trailer. Then I ran a strap through my back wheel from back corner to back corner. Put a soft towel between wheel and strap to avoid vibration/rubbing.
Worked out great. Had a 5 hour drive home!
Does the front fairing cover all the way down past the lower triple?

Can't help you on that particular on. My guess is it probably will as a 17" wheel is pretty common.
I just purchased this one from cycle gear. Although its a little more money than the link you posted, I know for a fact it fits perfectly. It's extremely stable, strong, and fits the tire well. There's no wobbling or any movement when the bike stands alone. It also has holes for bolting down to a trailer if need be.

So after reading some of the reviews on that harbor freight wheel chock I think I'm going with that. Also going to add a few extra d-rings around the deck when I install it. I'd like to have everything done before April 21 so I can tow my bike to the flood run north of me, but I'm on somewhat of a budget. Or so my wife says......
