I wanna learn to drift, I got a lot of concrete slabs in my area and I want to buy a wreck and outfit it as a drift/ stunt bike. Problem is that I got no one in my area to teach me.. anybody know some good video tutorials or anything?

It looks fun as hell to do.. anyone here into it?

umm.. that's not as convenient in my situation. All the land around here is owned by someone. What about something like one of those little Chinese Pandas?.. or maybe a old junk Ninja 250?.. do they make enough torque for drifting?

now that I think about it.. Ive seen photos of a guy riding a XB12S in the dirt with his dirt tires on.. that's another possibility. Problem is that all the dirt around here has grass on it.. people aren't gonna like me tearing up their grass. ha

just a few hundred yards from my house is a sports arena with a hugh parking lot and I got a little bike path that leads right to it.. the bike doesn't even have to be street legal.. but I would prefer some kind of street bike over a dirt bike.. I already have some dirt time anyway but it was a long time ago..

this is basically what I want to learn to do.. screw the wheelies and the jumping up on the tank and all that, I wanna learn just mostly the 180s the 360s and the figure 8s.. most of the turns hes doing I can already do, maybe not as pretty all the time but I just need more practice at it.. Im thinking that maybe if I were on a smaller or cheaper bike that was set up for crashes, I would have the freedom and confidence I need to try it until I got it right.

I plan to.. I got a parking lot just waiting for me 300 yards away just going to waste!

Guess Ill keep my eye out for a old CBR wreck ,,, you think old stuff from the 90s would still be small and light enough for this type of work?

lol well i didnt have a problem with that old stuff from the 90s.if what you buy doesnt have the power just gear it down.

yeah Ill take a look at whats out there right now.. I haven't been in the 600 market for a long time... I want it to be as light and cheap as possible.. Ill strip the whole thing down , gear it down and put a cage on it.. just depends on what I can find for cheap.

I'd go with at least a 600 for any kind of stunt bike. I've actually considered picking up a triumph T600 that's posted on my craigslist because it was already converted to a stunter and is pretty cheap.

yeah and in my area Ive got 2 1997 FZR 600s for less than a dollar per "cc".. no bodywork on them to worry about or anything.. not set up yet but they are a beginning. I found a wrecked ninja 250 for 200 bucks but it needs a lot of front-end work and like you said, not really enough power to mess with..

I'm gonna jump the Arkansas river next week here in Tulsa,Ok
Yeah the city is making a big deal

just off the top of my head, Im thinking that a real cheap and hard tire would be what you would want for all this anyway am I right?

Lesley.. you bullshitting?

No, if he isnt complaining about young people hes giving advice about torque wrenches.
Other than that i find him pretty entertaining

Just pretend he isnt there, thats what the rest of us do.

Ok ok I said something once about ages. And yes torque wrenches used during oil changes have been known to conjure up bad things.
And for the record in my mind I jump the river daily.

in person Lesley is a great guy to be around, has been into Buells for years, and is one of the kindest, friendliest and most generous people i've ever met......ever. though admittedly he is sensitive about drain plugs
