Why Buell?

That is a cool little piece of history there BuellDaytona!! So what if it wasn't Nicky Hayden's (or Danny from EBR!) ride?! It's still cool! :)

I'm on my second Buell because after all the other bikes I've had including a Ducati and some Triumphs, the Buells are still my favorite.

I have a Special O.P.S. pipe and my brother has a Hawk. They sound similar. I had a Jardine on my last Buell and loved it, but you need to re-pack 'em once in a while or they blow the ends off... lol

Yeah, I didn't think much of Buell either, at first. Or sportbikes in general, for that matter. But when a guy I dated (yes, I'm a chick) had one, I loved the sound of it. I spent a lot of miles on the back of that thing. And it was COMFORTABLE! That's right! On the back! Comfort! I've been on Ninjas, and every kind of cruiser. No comfort on long hauls.

So long after the Buell man and I broke up, I got my own bike - started out with a mid-80's sport cruiser. When I outgrew that I chose Buell. Comfort. Sound. American made. Handling.

Good luck with your choice.

this is such warm, fuzzy, feel good reading I can hardly get enuf!!!

I was a few weeks away from buying an R6 when I ran across an 07 XB12R online. Way more affordable plus I loved the idea of it being American made. This was May of '11 (a year and a half after the axe job by HD). All it took was a 20 minute test ride and I pulled the trigger. ZERO regrets since. First, I fell in love with the sound. Then I started learning how insanely well it handled (I would enter an on/off ramp thinking I was carrying alot of speed - halfway thru the turn the bike was nearly upright!). Next, the uniqueness really grew on me. I never saw anyone on the road (in my metro area of about 1 million) with the same bike. Then I took it to Deal's Gap and the relationship was cemented. Every time I go riding I discover why I'm so happy with this bike

Go ride any late model jap sport bike and you will soon discover that they all feel like the same mindless and souless piece of machinery. The Buell offers a connectedness that you will find on no other bike.

I will say that Buells may not be AS reliable as some of the japanese machines BUT - any bike of any make is going to give you trouble at some point. On the bright side - Buells are very easy to maintain (no valve adjustments necessary - EVER) and work on. I wouldnt recommend one to anyone who doesnt to do their own servicing. Own one and you will WANT to service it yourself.

Owning a Buell will give you an education in motorcycling that you may not get anywhere else.

Be unique, be bold, be proud... buy that Buell!

^^^ Nice mtnmason!! There is another post on this thread with the Buell advertisement....You just expressed the same thing from the real world!! :)

i'm convinced after owning 3 buell XB's that they are indeed the equivalent of a 21st century Vincent. fairly rare, quirky, V-twin torque and sound, easy to maintain, light of weight and ease of handling, ridden by dedicated owners who appreciate the bikes' attributes and know how to walk that fine-line between the "look at me" apehanger crowd and the 185 rear-wheel HP rice-rocket drones. uniqueness has become a rare commodity in the 2-wheeled arena and Buells have it in spades.

Checked several brands in shops here in Spain.
Seated on several bikes.
With my length 168cm I felt best on a Scg.
Other bikes were also an option. But I wanted one with more character. V-Twin with heritage.
And for the price the only other options would have been entry level 600's.
Which usually score the top of sales rankings.

But the real final descision was made when I checked the forums of my options.
There is no better family feeling than on BUELLXB!!!
