I found a 04 XB12R with 11K on the clock for $3000, There are two dents in the frame on the right side (ironically exactly where the frame protector would be) you can see in pics and seller listed them, says it was from laydown (?)

Whatcya think, is it worth a look?

Personally I would. But I have a budget that is way too small, and I would look at almost anything in my price range haha.

very good point on the dent. depending on how bad they are and if they can be covered / patched, it could be a great deal.

I picked up my 03 with a decent sized dent on the left from te same thing, it had 16k on it when I bought it and currently has 40k. I used bonds to fill te dent, painted it, and put the picks on, and it's held up great!. I gave 2800 for my bike, so yours seems like a fair deal IMO

mileage is low, price isn't bad at all, besides the dents...if there isn't any other underlying issues, if there is that would leave room to negotiate the price, I would jump on it.

I would, that's what I have in mine with the bike and parts alone, not to mention the time and labor for a tranny rebuild and 20k on the odo.

Sorry, I dont get on the board often. I am trying to upload a pic of the dents, hopefully it works.

OK it didn't work, the Add Your Photo function just says done on this machine and nothing else. I am not really that literate at adding photos so any help from the gurus is appreciated :)

Is it a Craigslist ad? Just copy and paste the link. If you've got the pictures, just upload to photobucket and paste the link.[up]

looks like rattle can paint. who knows what's under it. dents are on both sides of the frame and on the left side of the swing arm. I would offer $2000-$2500. assuming it its in good mechanical shape.

if you do get it, use fiberglass filler bondo and make sure the spot for the repair is very clean.

The bikes defrinately been wrecked. Damage on both sides, no headlight bezels, aftermarket mirrors/grips/levers. Looks like the front fairing stay was broke at some point. Probably has 11k miles due to it being wrecked. As long as everything is straight though I'd say 2500 is a good deal as long as it has a clean title and the engine sounds good. I'd say go for it.

And just for the record you can have a durable good finish with spray cans if you know what you're doing. Just sayin [up]
But I doubt that is the case for this one. I'd expect to invest in a decent paint job upon purchase. Possibly a few other things. By te time you've got her fixed up you'll have around 3k in it. Not bad. My .02 anyways :)
