so yesterday i rode into work no biggie runs fine. i go to go home and when i hit the ignition it started to start but the it was clicking loudly then no power to the bike. so i cycled power by turning off the key key then tried again no issues started just fine. went home and thought nothing of it. today i wake up to go to work again and i go to start it. same thing. so now that's twice. i cycled power again and it started. but i was looking for other symptoms to diagnose the problem. so i killed it turned the key and the oil light wasn't on (like it usually is) while its doing its self check. i cycled power again now the light is there during the self test. i get disgruntled start the bike go to leave and i was backfiring like a mad bastard. get to work i cannot reproduce the problems in front of people so now i look like im bat shit crazy. and it hasn't done it since this morning. now she just sounds like she struggles to start. i hit the ignition i get about a 1-1.5 second pause of silence then it kicks over.

seriously WTF is going on?[confused]

low battery? maybe the starter starting to go if it's holding up for a sec before it kicks.

Chrge the Batt then test the voltage regulator and stator to see if its producing the correct output. These bikes will do the delayed start at times due to the nature of the engine design.......the starter is having to over come the compresion stroke with no help from inerta. Sounds as if your Batt is taking a crap. The oil pressure light thing is because you had the bike running and it had pressue built up already when you killed the bike then Imeadiatly turn the key back on. My 04 will do that to. BTW Starting these bikes then killing and restarting and killing and restarting and killing and restarting is a Big no no. They will foul plugs faster than a fat kid can open a snikers.

ok so i checked the battery and noticed that my seat was resting in the cable ant the batt. repositioned tightened. no issues yet but we will see. in theory i think what happened is the cable came loose while i was starting it and it died.

i don't know a lot about the computer in it but like in a car it would have to relearn everything again so that might explain the backfiring.
