Anyone notice build quality differences between XB12 models? I'm a multibike owner, basically commuter, much more of a rider than a wrencher. I want a XB for many reasons. Uniqueness, history, innovation, etc. But the particular model is not that important to me, as long as it works. Thoughts?

I dont think there is any difference in quality between any of the XB's, 9 or 12.

Just go for it! All XBs are good . I've had a couple of SS's, an STT and a XB9s and they've all been a blast to ride. I had a Buell then went to BMW only to come back to Buell 6 months later. That say's alot in my opinion. [up]

I agree with all the above...
Buells are Great Build Quality.
there was some recalls and service bulletins like any vehicle . if you want to find out what recalls for each year models check here.
http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/recallsearch.cfm

and checkout some of the other threads on buell issues of what has gone wrong and any problems from them if any from the owners of high mileage Buells.

lots of Buellers have 20k-30k+ miles on their buells, with little or no problems..

I think it's more of an exterior/appearance thing than anything else. They're pretty much the same in build quality IMO and from what I've read...

Yeah, they are like Legos. All the 12s and 9s share the same motors across the model lineups, excepting some minor changed like the oil pump. The only differences are that the SSs (Uly, STT, and SS) have a slightly longer frame, seat, and swingarm, where the Ss and Rs have a shorter frame and swingarm
