XB12R, will not stop starting.

Hey guys. Got home and turned the key off and the starter is continuously starting, key off, kill switch off, pulled the fuses...it wont stop. I had to whip the seat off and disco the battery....
Anyone have a idea on that??

Unsure mate. Have been advised to check all groundings, look for worn earthing wire(s). I'll trace all wiring from Battery to Starter or vis versa and look for the obvious, otherwise Solenoid or Relay..., to be honest I do not know diddly squat about electrics. But I'll have a look and see if I can spot something obvious..

It sounds like grounding is not an issue if the starter motor is running. I would have to go with the solenoid sticking theory. I would also take apart the switch on the handle bars and ensure the switch returns to open when released, you should be able to look/feel and see this to confirm. I have not had my Buell switch apart but they are typically a switch located within the handle bar perch.

if you take the switch apart, be carefull. there are small springs and ball bearing in there. ive done it and lost pieces. i would all most say its your starter switch that stuck or kill switch.

before reconnecting battery go to front of bike and trace the small wiring loom down from the right switch control to the bulk of the front harness. disconnect that plug. now connect battery. all ok? it's the handlebar control switch housing assembly. no difference? dead short in main harness or solenoid?
