Bike has 13k on the clock. Just installed new stock plugs thinking it would clear up the problem. No improvement. Bike stumbles (surges) below 3,000 rpm. Historically, it did this on cold days. It appears to getting worse now that we have temps in 90's here in California. It also seems to vibrate more. Would a TPS reset help?

Mine ('08 XB12SCG"R") has similar issue in the hot Summer (now). Air Temp when I ride into work is 60-65F with 20-25% humidity. When I fire her up at around 3PM, Air Temp is hovering around 100F with humidity around 30-35%. When I start her up, she wanes and bogs big time to the point of dying. I give her a 1/4 pump or two and she settles up to her normal 1-1200 rpm idle.

My local old Harley/Vincent Master Mech tells me the ECM's on the Buell's are very sensitive and will maintain the same atmospheric data input settings on start up as it had on it's last shut down. It takes a couple of minutes for the ECM to analyze the drastic changes in temps/humidity/air density which ultimately come from the IAT Sensor.

Air Density plays a big factor in this issue. That is why it occurs in the Winter as well. But no where as bad.

I do in fact do a TPS reset in the late Spring and then again in the Fall. Helps re-establish a base line for the mean temps and air density of the seasons.
